1. The Lok Sabha passed the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025. 288 Members Voted in Favour and 232 Members Voted Against the Bill. The House also gave approval to the Mussalman Wakf (Repeal) Bill 2024 which repeals Mussalman Wakf Act 1923. Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju moved the bill in the Lok Sabha.
2. In Assam, polling for the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council concluded peacefully with 68.58 percent voter turnout. The polling was held in 33 out of 36 council constituencies under the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council spread across Kamrup and Goalpara districts.

11. ISRO has achieved a major milestone in its semi-cryogenic engine development program by successfully conducting the first hot test of the Engine Power Head Test Article (PHTA) on 28 March 2025, at the ISRO Propulsion Complex in Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu.
12. Telangana government cleared 400 acres of forest in Kancha Gachibowli village in Rangareddy district. The State has has estimated a revenue of around Rs 10,000 to 15,000 crore from the auction. There are plans to develop the area into world-class IT parks and improved urban living spaces.

15. Neelamben Parikh, the great-granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi, breathed her last on Tuesday in Navsari at the age of 93. She was the granddaughter of Haridas Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi’s son. Neelamben had been residing in Navsari district with her son, Dr Sameer Parikh.

1. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has increased toll charges by 4 to 5 per cent nationwide. The hike, effective immediately, will help fund highway maintenance and expansion. On the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, car tolls from Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut will rise from 165 to 170 rupees, while Ghaziabad to Meerut will increase from 70 to 75 rupees. Trucks on this route will now pay 580 rupees.
2. The Reserve Bank of India, RBI, has said 98.21 per cent of the 2000 rupee bank notes have been returned to the banking system.
3. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs has said it will introduce the electronic processing of the import and export of gems, jewellery, and machinery samples through personal carriage by air passengers.
This will come into effect from the 1st of next month at specified airports. Nine airports in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Kochi, Coimbatore, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Jaipur would allow personal carriage export of gems and jewellery.
4. Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has expanded its Multi-Banking Centralised Collection System by empanelling 15 more banks, bringing the total number of banks in the panel to 32.

1. The Indian Navy signed the project sanction order under the Make-I category for the design and development of a 6-megawatt medium-speed marine diesel engine. The deal was with Kirloskar Oil Engines Limited in New Delhi.
