11. *UTTAR PRADESH* govt has ordered that no female worker shall be bound to work without her written consent before 6 am and after 7 pm in the state. The order also states that female employees should be provided free transportation, food and sufficient supervision, if working during the aforementioned hours. Employers have been told to ensure washrooms near workplace

12. *UTTARA KHAND* : Seven trekkers have gone missing on Pandav Shera route in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag at a height of around 4,500 metres. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Saturday sent a high-altitude rescue team and a chopper to the area to launch a search and rescue operation.

1. India’s foremost documentary film festival MIFF 2022 begins today in Mumbai. During the 17th Edition of MIFF, a special package of 11 films from Bangladesh including the critically acclaimed film Hasina- A Daughter’s Tale will be presented.

2. Actress Jacqueline Fernandez has received court permission to travel to Abu Dhabi to attend/ participate in IIFA awards 2022. She has received the permission to travel to Abu Dhabi between May 31 to June 6.

Jacqueline Fernandez is a Sri Lankan actress and model. She has worked in Indian films, predominantly in Hindi, besides appearing in reality shows and music videos. Debuting with Aladin in 2009 she has since then established a career in the Hindi film industry. Since December 2021, Fernandez has been subjected to an investigation into a money laundering case involving $200 million. The investigation is being carried out by the Enforcement Directorate (ED)

3. Sriya Lenka, the 18-year-old Indian who is the newest entrant in the K-pop girl group Blackswan, is a native of Odisha’s Rourkela. Lenka, who’s India’s first K-pop star, is reportedly a trained Odissi classical singer and dancer. She started auditioning to join K-pop groups during the 2020 lockdown. She trained in rap, musical instruments etc in Seoul before joining Blackswan.

DEFENCE:

1. The Indian Navy successfully tested its ship-based surface to air missile system by taking down a low flying target. The test was carried out from a stealth frigate deployed on the western seaboard.

The Navy tweeted that a Talwar-class guided-missile anti-submarine stealth frigate successfully engage a low-flying target with its SAM system. The Talwar class can accommodate one Ka-28 Helix-A antisubmarine helicopter or one Ka-31 Helix-B airborne early warning helicopter which can provide over-the-horizon targeting.

2. INS Gomati decommissioned at Naval Dockyard in Mumbai on 28 May. INS Gomati derives her name from the vibrant river Gomti and was commissioned on 16 April 1988 by the Hon’ble Raksha Mantri, Shri KC Pant, at Mazgaon Dock Ltd, Bombay.

During her service, she participated in Operations Cactus, Parakram and Rainbow, and several bilateral and multinational naval exercises. For her remarkable spirit and stellar contribution to national maritime security, she was twice awarded the coveted Unit Citation, once in 2007-08 and again in 2019-20

3. Lt. Gen. Rana Pratap Kalita, GOC-in-C, Eastern Command of the Indian Army arrived in Dhaka today for the UN Peacekeeping day. He is on a visit to Bangladesh at the invitation of the Chief of Army Staff, Bangladesh

4. Born Today: Air Chief Marshal Fali Homi Major, PVSM, AVSM, SC, VM, ADC served as the 21st Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force, taking office on 1 April 2007, and becoming the first helicopter pilot in the service to be promoted to the office of Chief & Recipient of Shaurya Chakra. He retired on 31 May 2009, and was succeeded in office by Air Chief Marshal P V Naik.
