20. Fluorosis-affected activist Amshala Swamy, who fought for the eradication of the disease in Telangana’s Nalgonda, passed away in Marriguda mandal on Saturday. The 37-year-old activist fell from his battery-operated wheelchair while climbing up the ramp at his house on Friday evening.
CRIME REPORT
1. Enforcement Directorate, ED has arrested four more accused in the illegal coal levy scam of Chhattisgarh for Rs 152 crore and has filed a Prosecution Complaint under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
The accused persons were produced before the PMLA Special Court in Raipur. They have been sent to ED Custody till 30th January.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said, “In the next 5-6 months, thousands of husbands will be arrested as it is a crime to have sexual relations with a girl below 14 years of age, even if he is her legally [married] husband.” “Those who marry younger girls below 18 years will also be brought to book,” he added.
3. Pulkit Arya, the son of ex-BJP leader Vinod Arya, will undergo narco and polygraph tests in the Ankita Bhandari murder case from February 1-3, in Uttarakhand.
4. A statue of Dr BR Ambedkar was damaged in Chaube Chapra village of Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia. The suspect, identified and has been arrested.
5. Mumbai, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) on Saturday issued 2nd warning against screening BBC documentary ‘India: The Modi Question’, on PM Modi.
