1. Highlights of Mann Ki Baat @ August 2022!

(a) PM Modi said he had recently attended an event organised by the Government of India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. They organised the screening of the Swaraj serial on Doordarshan, which shows unsung heroes of India’s freedom struggle.

(b) PM Modi spoke highly of Project Sampoorna in Bongaigaon, Assam that aimed to fight malnutrition.

(c) He said that the year 2023 will be celebrated as the International Year of Millets.

(d) PM Modi spoke about one particular initiative in the Jorsing village in Arunachal Pradesh. On August 15, 4G services started in the village. There was a time when people rejoiced when electricity reached a village. Now, people are equally excited when they get 4G connectivity.

(e) PM Modi spoke about a fruit called Himalayan Fig, aka Bedu, which contains minerals and vitamins in large quantities. It has now been branded and sold online, which helps farmers grow another source of income.

(f) PM spoke about various festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Onam, Nuakhai and Samvatsari Parva. He wished everyone on the occasion of various such festivals, which are often linked to agriculture. He also reminded everyone of Major Dhyanchand Jayanti on August 29, celebrated as National Sports Day.

(g) He also spoke about importance of water preservation.

3. DELHI : Illegally built Supertech twin towers were wiped from Noida’s skyline on Sunday, as the structures came crumbling down in a matter of 12 seconds after a series of controlled explosions around 2.30pm.

The 29-storey-high Ceyanne touched the ground, closely followed by the 32-storey-high Apex tower— obliterated by 3,700kg of explosives set in their pillars and walls. The demolition was successful, Joe Brinkkman, the mastermind behind the blast and CEO of Jet Demolitions, said, adding that no other building in the vicinity was significantly damaged in the process.

4. J&K : Former Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) minister Taj Mohiuddin on Sunday resigned from the Congress party and said that he will join the new political party that Ghulam Nabi Azad is planning to launch in the coming time.

5. KERALA : After Kodiyeri Balakrishnan stepped down as the CPI(M) state chief, citing health reasons, senior party leader and Local Self-government Minister MV Govindan Master was elected as his replacement

6. MAHARASHTRA : Samajik Adhikari Shivir’ was organized by the Department of SJ&E in association with ALIMCO, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), and District Administration Nagpur.

7. The ‘Samajik Adhikari Shivir’ was organized for the distribution of aid and assisting devices to Senior Citizens under ‘Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana’ (RVY Scheme) and ‘Divyangjan‘ under the ADIP scheme of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.

1. MADHYA PRADESH : Five inmates escaped from a juvenile home in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa by breaking a window at the facility on Sunday. The five persons, who had been brought in only a few days ago, broke the kitchen window in the morning

2. Police have registered a case after one of the three plaintiffs related to Varanasi’s Gyanvapi case in 1991 received death threats from an unknown international caller on August 24. According to police, some persons threatened to kill the 60-year-old plaintiff and his family members. The call was made from a number that is linked to Pakistan.

3. MAHARASHTRA : Three Naxalites have been arrested from the jungles of Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district in a joint operation carried out by the C-60 unit and the CRPF Battalion 37. The three arrested collectively carried a reward of ₹10 lakh on their heads.
