1. The President, Vice President, and Prime Minister have extended greetings to citizens on Chhath Puja. President Murmu participated in Chhath Puja celebrations in the President’s Estate.

2. The Election Commission announces second phase of Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls in 12 states and Union Territories; Process to start from tomorrow and conclude on 7th February, next year.

3. In the Indian electoral system, SIR stands for Special Intensive Revision. It is a special drive launched by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure that the electoral rolls (voter lists) are accurate, complete, and up to date. The purpose of this process is to include eligible voters who may have been left out and to remove names of those who are no longer eligible, such as deceased or shifted persons. Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is a comprehensive, door-to-door verification process of electoral rolls.

4. The four-day long Chhath Mahaparv is being celebrated with religious devotion and enthusiasm in different parts of the country. On the third day of the festival, lakh of devotees paid oblations to the setting Sun this evening, praying for the prosperity and well-being of their children and family.

5. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated the India Maritime Week in Mumbai.

6. Aurangabad Railway Station Renamed as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Station: Nearly three years after Aurangabad city in Maharashtra was renamed, the Central Railway officially changed Aurangabad railway station to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar railway station with the new station code CPSN.

7. Uttarakhand will implement a green tax on all vehicles from outside the state to protect the Himalayan ecosystem and reduce pollution in destinations like Dehradun, Mussoorie, Nainital, and Rishikesh. The tax, ranging from ₹80 to ₹700 depending on vehicle type, will be collected through ANPR cameras and automatic digital deduction.

8. In Uttar Pradesh, Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra has announced that all work related to the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi temple construction in Ayodhya has been completed.

9. India will host the Asia Pacific Accident Investigation Group (APAC-AIG) meeting and workshop for the first time from October 28–31, 2025, organized by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

10. Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar 2025 was announced on 26 October 2025 to honour excellence in science, technology, and innovation. The awards include Vigyan Ratna (lifetime achievement – Prof. Jayant Vishnu Narlikar, Physics).

11. Telangana on Monday called on the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) to stop Andhra Pradesh from taking any action or steps on the Polavaram-Banakacharla link project (PBLP) including proceeding with awarding a contract for preparing a detailed project report (DPR).

12. West Bengal government on Monday announced the transfer of over 500 bureaucrats amid the rollout of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in the state.

13. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will kick off the Bihar campaign on October 29 with joint rallies alongside RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav in Muzaffarpur’s Sakra constituency and Darbhanga. This will be his first visit to the state since September 1, when he addressed a rally in Patna at the conclusion of his Voter Adhikar Yatra

15. Renowned Plastic Surgeon Dr. K. Mathangi Ramakrishnan Passes Away at 91: Dr. K. Mathangi Ramakrishnan, a pioneering plastic and reconstructive surgeon known for her trailblazing work in burn care, passed away on 27 October 2025 in Chennai at the age of 91.

1. The Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 is being observed across the country from yesterday to promote probity in public life and achieve a corruption free society. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda addressed senior officers and staff of the Ministry to mark the observance of the Vigilance Awareness Week in New Delhi.

2. Justice Surya Kant has been recommended by CJI Bhushan R Gavai as his successor and is set to become the 53rd Chief Justice of India after Gavai’s retirement on 23 November 2025.

7. Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut on Monday was granted bail in a defamation case by a court in Punjab’s Bathinda, as she regretted the “misunderstanding” that arose following her social media post and said every ‘mata’ (mother) is respectable to her.

3. The World Day for Audiovisual Heritage in 2025 is observed on Monday, 27 October.
​This annual observance, designated by UNESCO, aims to raise global awareness of the importance and vulnerability of audiovisual documents such as films, sound and video recordings, and radio and television programs, and to call for urgent measures to preserve them.

1. India’s long-anticipated “Super Sukhoi” upgrade program for its frontline Su‑30MKI fleet is close to receiving its final green signal. The Ministry of Defence has nearly completed internal reviews and is expected to forward the proposal to the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) for approval shortly.

2. The Indian Air Force and the DRDO have successfully demonstrated advanced manned-unmanned teaming off the Konkan coast where a Tejas fighter jet networked with two UAVs for a simulated maritime strike.

3. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has moved its LVM-3 launch vehicle to the pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, ahead of the scheduled 2 November launch. The mission will deploy the CMS-03 or Gsat-7R satellite, designed specifically to enhance the Indian Navy’s advanced communication network.

4. Two US Navy aircraft including an FA-18 fighter jet and MH-60 helicopter crashed over the South China Sea during routine operations from the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier.

5. The fourth edition of the joint Indo–Australian Army exercise, AUSTRAHIND 2025, concluded in Perth, Australia, on 26 October 2025.Conducted from 13 to 26 October, the bilateral exercise aimed to deepen military cooperation, enhance interoperability, and bolster the capability of both armies to conduct combined operations in complex environments.

6. Israel Aerospace Industries has announced that it is advancing its Barak missile line with the 250 km range Barak E-A missile for Indian exports, but India is unlikely to pursue the Barak-A missile as DRDO’s Project Kusha already fields the M2 interceptor which matches the Barak in both range and capability. Procuring the new Israeli system would merely duplicate existing strengths.

7. The Indian Navy’s long-delayed Landing Platform Dock (LPD) acquisition has officially been revived following the Defence Acquisition Council’s (DAC) grant of Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) on 23 October 2025.Valued at approximately ₹33,000 crore, the program will see the construction of four advanced amphibious assault vessels in Indian shipyards, significantly expanding India’s maritime power projection and disaster-relief capabilities.

8. The Indo‑Russian joint venture BrahMos Aerospace is nearing approval of its most advanced system — the BrahMos‑II hypersonic cruise missile.

9. INS Sutlej successfully completed a joint hydrographic survey with the Mauritius Hydrographic Service, mapping 35,000 sq. nautical miles under an India-Mauritius MoU.
The mission supports marine charting, Blue Economy goals, and environmental planning, while also conducting EEZ surveillance and anti-piracy patrols with the Mauritius Coast Guard.

10. The Indian Air Force (IAF) has become the first non-NATO country to participate in Exercise Ocean Sky 2025, a high-intensity multinational air combat drill hosted by the Spanish Air Force at Gando Air Base, Canary Islands (Oct 20–31, 2025).
