They have been protesting for months, demanding transfer from the Valley owing to safety concerns.

1. A Mumbai court has remanded former ICICI Bank CEO and MD Chanda Kochhar, her husband Deepak Kochhar, and Videocon group founder Venugopal Dhoot in CBI custody till December 28 in connection with a loan fraud case.

2. A 22-year-old Instagram influencer Leena Nagwanshi dies by suicide at her home in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh.

3. A huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the Jalan tea garden in Dibrugarh, informed Dibrugarh police on Monday.The police recovered an AK-47 bullet, two bottle bombs and explosive material in the stockpile of weapons.

4. A BSF soldier was beaten to death, and his son injured in Gujarat, Nadiad, after they protested to an obscene video of his daughter filmed by the accused which went viral on the social media. The soldier’s wife called the incident a planned murder.

The decision to extend mandatory military service comes amid growing tensions with China, which claims the self-ruled island as its territory.
