1. The IMD, issued heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for several states/UTs. Heavy rainfall is likely in parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on October 29 (Saturday). Further, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala on October 30 (Sunday).

8. The walls and ceiling of the sanctum sanctorum of Kedarnath Dham has been decorated with 550 gold layers. Temple committee president Ajendra Ajay said the layers were transported to Kedarnath three days ago through 18 horse mules. He added that 19 artisans had done the work of applying gold layers under the supervision of two Archaeological Survey of India officers.

9. MAHARASHTRA : The Congress party has planned to organise two rallies in Maharashtra as part of Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ which is set to enter the state on November 7. The rallies will be held in Nanded and Shegaon.

11. RAJASTHAN govt on Wednesday sanctioned ₹13.10 crore to build smart classrooms in 500 madrasas. “The state government has started connecting madrasas of the state with modern technology.

12. TAMIL NADU : Cab, auto drivers to pay up to ₹500 fine for cancelling rides in Tamil Nadu. Commuters can file a complaint with state transport department if their rides are cancelled. Separately, motorists who refuse to leave the way for emergency vehicles will have to pay a ₹10,000 fine.

13. National Intellectual Property Award: The national award for intellectual property was given to the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras for 2021 and 2022.

14. ‘Kashi Tamil Sangamam’ will be organized by the Ministry of Education next month. The ‘Kashi Tamil Sangamam’ is a month-long program that will be held from the 16th of the next month. The ‘Kashi Tamil Sangamam’ aims to rediscover the centuries-old bond of knowledge and ancient civilizational linkage between Varanasi and Tamil Nadu.

CRIME REPORT

1. The Mumbai Police have registered a case against filmmaker Kamal Kishor Mishra after a complaint from his wife. As per his wife, Mishra allegedly hit her with a car on October 19 and she has been severely injured. The police have started a search for the film producer.

2. BIHAR : Five persons died and several others are critical and undergoing treatment in Bihar’s Rohtas due to an undiagnosed sickness. Local residents claimed the deceased consumed liquor on Diwali and developed symptoms like loss of eyesight and stiffness in body.

1. Central Board of Direct Taxes, CBDT has extended the last date of filing the Income-tax Return by 7th of next month under sub-Section (1) of Section 139 of the Income-tax Act, for the Assessment Year 2022-23.

2. Hindustan Copper Limited today has paid a dividend of more than 74 crore rupees to the union government for the financial year 2021-22. This is equivalent to over 23 percent of equity share capital. The Ministry of Mines said that total dividend pay-out to all shareholders is more than one hundred twelve crore rupees. The dividend per share is the highest ever declared by the Company.

3. Ford Motor said it is exiting Russia after finalising a deal to sell its 49% stake in the Russia-based Sollers Ford joint venture. Ford said the deal was agreed for a “nominal” undisclosed price.

4. Netherlands has emerged as India’s third-largest export destination, ahead of China and Bangladesh. It has moved up two spots in the list of India’s top ten export destinations since FY22.

1. PINAKA rocket is manufactured by Private defence majors TATA & L&T YantraIndia is set to export indigenous Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launchers (MBRL) to Armenia. The cost of this deal is estimated to be $250 million. This deal is indicative of India’s steady growth in defence manufacturing and exports.

2. Malaysia has expressed interest in the BrahMos-NG (Next Generation) missiles, after the Philippines’ USD 374 million purchase of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles.

3. The Assam Rifles recovered a huge cache of war-like stores in Siaha district of Mizoram on Wednesday. The tactical equipment included a satellite phone, weapon spare parts, bullets, bulletproof jackets and foreign currency.

4. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) rescued 20 Bangladeshi fishermen from the sea after cyclone SITRANG landfall in the country.

5. Indian Army has installed quadcopter jammers in large numbers to protect military bases in forward areas.

6. ISRO is also keen to become an anchor customer for satellites in the country. India plans to expand its regional satellite navigation system NaVIC in a bid to increase its use in the civilian sector and also by ships and aircraft travelling far from the country’s borders.
