1. PM Modi has completed eleven years in office yesterday. It was on this day in 2014 PM Narendra Modi had taken oath as the Prime Minister of India.

2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches multiple development projects worth over 77 thousand crore rupees at Bhuj and Dahod in Gujarat.

3. The Election Commission of India on Sunday announced the schedule for upcoming bye-elections to fill vacant Assembly seats in Gujarat, Kerala, Punjab, and West Bengal. Polling will take place on June 19, with the counting of votes scheduled for June 23.

4. Union Minister of Earth Sciences Dr. Jitendra Singh today launched the Indigenously developed high resolution Bharat Forecasting System in New Delhi.

Developed by the Pune-based Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology , the Bharat Forecasting System will provide forecasts with a 6-kilometer resolution-the highest in the world-which will allow the meteorological department to predict small-scale weather features more accurately.

5. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that around 15 foreign universities will establish campuses in India by this academic year, with government approval already granted.

6. IRCTC Launches Bharat-Bhutan Mystic Mountain Tour From June 28
Bharat Gaurav train will depart from Delhi’s Safdarjung Railway Station with 150 passengers for a 13-night and 14-day trip. Guwahati will be the first halt.

7. A new sub-variant of Covid-19, named NB.1.8.1, was identified in India. This variant is a descendant of the Omicron lineage JN.1 and has raised concerns due to its potential transmissibility. The World Health Organization (WHO) classified it as a ‘Variant Under Monitoring’ (VUM).

8. Government of India has renewed its Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to boost domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing. This initiative focuses on increasing the production of critical pharmaceutical products.

9. Uttar Pradesh has launched India’s first jungle safari train equipped with a Vistadome coach. Connecting the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve and Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, the train offers passengers a spectacular journey.

10. Ministry of Panchayati Raj officially launched the Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) Version 2.0 at a two-day National Writeshop held in New Delhi from 26–27 May 2025. This upgraded framework is designed to help Gram Panchayats.

11. President Smt Droupadi Murmu will present the Padma Awards at the second Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan this evening.

Heavy rains lash Tamil Nadu as southwest monsoon arrives early; red alert continues for Nilgiris, ghat areas. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across multiple districts of TN till May 28.

12. Alert of heavy rains in these states : The Meteorological Department has once again predicted rains in Delhi NCR, where the movement of clouds continues. According to the IMD, heavy rains are expected in Kerala and Karnataka till May 31. Heavy rains in the northeastern region in Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland.

13. The Government of India has started a new health scheme called the Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana (AVVY) in October 2024. Under this scheme, every Indian citizen who is 70 years or elder will get free health insurance of up to Rs.5 lakh every year.

1. In Jharkhand’s Latehar district, A most wanted Maoist commander Manish Yadav was killed in a fierce gunfight with security forces late Sunday night.

2. In Punjab, four persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of Shiromani Akali Dal councillor Harjinder Singh in Amritsar. The Shiromani Akali Dal leader was shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailants in Amritsar on Sunday.

YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, accused of spying for Pakistan, sent to judicial custody: YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan, was remanded to a 14-day judicial custody by a local court in Haryana’s Hisar. She is one of the 12 people arrested so far for allegedly spying for the neighbouring country.

1. The first batch of women cadets of the National Defence Academy (NDA) from its 148th course are inching closer to their day of marching past the Antim Pag — the final step — at the triservices academy. 148th course of the NDA, which is scheduled to take place on May 29 and 30.

Seventeen women cadets are passing out from the academy along with their 300 plus male counterparts. An interim order passed by the Supreme Court of India in August 2021 had paved the way for the admission of the women cadets into the NDA.

2. The Indian Army has significantly enhanced its air defence capabilities by integrating TATA Advanced Systems Limited’s (TASL) advanced Thermal Sighting System with the Russian-origin IGLA man-portable air defence systems (MANPADS).

3. India has made a significant leap in indigenous defence technology with the unveiling of potent Kamikaze drones powered by home-built engines, capable of striking targets up to 1,000 kilometres away. Developed by the National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), these loitering munitions—also known as “do-and-die” drones.

4. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Moti Ram Jat, on charges of espionage for allegedly sharing sensitive and classified information with Pakistan intelligence officers (PIOs).

5. The family of Indian Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi were among the many that attended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow in Vadodara, Gujarat. Colonel Qureshi is one of the two female military officers who led the briefings of India’s cross-border strikes under Operation Sindoor.
