*The Ethanol Blending Programme (EBP) was initiated in 2003 with the aim to reduce India’s dependence on imported crude oil, promote the use of renewable energy, and support the domestic sugar and agriculture sectors. Over time, the programme has evolved, with a consistent rise in blending targets, reaching 10% in 2022 and now achieving the 20% blending goal in 2025.
4. Arunachal Pradesh was conferred the ‘Best Adventure Tourism Destination Award’ at the India International Travel Mart (IITM)-2025 in Bengaluru, in recognition of the state’s unparalleled natural beauty and its emergence as a premier destination for sustainable and culturally immersive adventure tourism.

The Madhya Pradesh government has launched a new initiative offering monthly stipends to unemployed youth—₹6,000 for women and ₹5,000 for men—to support skill development through industrial internships. 1. Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday, accusing the poll body of bias and holding it responsible for the party’s repeated setbacks in Gujarat’s assembly elections.
2. Action will be taken against men who have fraudulently become part of the Maharashtra government’s Ladki Bahin Yojana and money given to them under the scheme will be recovered, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said on Saturday.
His statement came amid reports that 14,000 men were beneficiaries of the scheme, under which women get Rs 1,500 per month as aid subject to certain conditions, including annual family income.

1. Four persons have died and more than 450 houses damaged in heavy rains this monsoon in Maharashtra’s Palghar, an official said on Saturday amid a ‘red alert’ issued for the district by the India Meteorological Department.
2. Almost one and a half month after the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad, Air India on Saturday said that they have disbursed interim compensation of ₹ 25 lakh each to 166 families affected by the AI-717 crash.
Air India also said Tata Group has also registered ‘The AI-171 Memorial and Welfare Trust’ which is dedicated to the victims of the tragic accident.
3. Bengaluru’s iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium has been declared “unsafe and unsuitable for mass gatherings” by the Justice John Michael D’Cunha Commission.
This independent panel was appointed by the Karnataka government after a deadly stampede during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL victory celebration, which claimed 11 lives and injured dozens.

2. Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), a leading defence public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, has secured a significant domestic order worth ₹809 crore (gross) from Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL) for the supply of one of its Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs).This order is to be executed over a period of three years.
3. India Russia to revive Brahmos 2K Hypersonic Missile in September: The final approval for the BrahMos 2K hypersonic cruise missile project, based on Russia’s Zircon missile (Mach 8, 1,500km range), will be granted during President Putin’s visit to India in September.
4. The Ministry of Defence has approved ₹723.59 crore for two key projects focused on the “Dry Kaveri” engine, which will power the Ghatak unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV).
5. Hyderabad-based Astra Rafael Comsys (ARC), a joint venture between India’s Astra Microwave Products Ltd and Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defence Systems, has successfully completed the user trials for its BNET-MANAS V/UHF Software Defined Radio (SDR) designed for the Indian Army.
6. The Indian Navy is set to begin manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) trials of the naval LCA in 2026 at INS Hansa in Goa, to validate real-time coordination between manned and unmanned assets like loitering munitions and loyal wingmen.
