delhi govt imposes night curfew from december 27

1. More than 141 crore 37 lakh COVID vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive (Includes both 1st & 2nd doses).

2. COVID vaccination for children between 15 and 18 years of age to begin from Jan 3

3. Highlights of
PM Modi Mann Ki Baat programme @ 26 Dec.

(a).PM urges people to stay guarded against COVID-19; says, self-awareness & self-discipline are strength to fight against new variant.

(b). He remembered Group Captain Varun Singh who was flying the helicopter that faced a mishap this month in Tamil Nadu. Country’s first Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat and his wife and many brave hearts also lost their lives in the incident.

(c) . The Prime Minister announced that he will hold a Pariksha Pe Charcha and the registration for this programme will begin on 28th of this month on MyGov.in . This registration will continue till 20th January next year.

(d) PM also played a snippet from a video where students from Greece perform Vande Mataram.

(e) He said Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav gives the country an opportunity to live the memories of the freedom struggle. He asked everyone to continue to be inspired by the great personalities of the freedom struggle.

(f) . He mentioned Serbian Scholar Dr. Momir Nikich who has compiled a Bilingual Sanskrit- Serbian Dictionary. More than 70 thousand Sanskrit words included in this dictionary have been translated into Serbian language.

(g) The PM also lauded the efforts of Sagar Mule of Goa, who is involved in saving centuries-old Kaavi painting from extinction. Kaavi form of painting covers the ancient history of India.

(h) He highlighted the Puneet Sagar campaign undertaken by NCC cadets.

(j) PM also praised tge work of 84 years old Kurella Vithalacharya, who collected over 2 lakh books for the library at Ramannapeta in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district in Telangana.

4. BIHAR: At least six people were killed after a boiler exploded at a factory in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur on Sunday morning, The explosion at the noodles factory located in Muzaffarpur’s Bela Industrial area, Phase-II, took place around 10 am. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of those who died in the accident.

5. DELHI govt has decided to impose night curfew from today. The decision has been taken in view of increasing cases of COVID19 in the city. The night curfew will be effective from 11.00 PM to 5 AM.

6. HIMACHAL : Today PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several development Hydropower projects worth 11,281 crore rupees in Himachal Pradesh from Mandi district.

7. PM will lay the foundation stone of

(i) Renukaji Dam project. Lying pending for around three decades.

(ii) The Luhri Stage 1 Hydro Power Project. The 210 MW project will be built at a cost of over Rs 1800 crore.

(iii) Dhaulasidh Hydro Power Project. The 66 MW project will be built at a cost of over Rs 680 crore.

(iv) Sawra-Kuddu Hydro Power Project. The 111 MW Project has been built at a cost of around Rs 2080 crore. It will lead to generation of over 380 million units of electricity per year.

8. Amid Omicron scare,
KARNATAKA govt has decided to impose night curfew from December 28 for 10 days from 10 pm to 5 am. The government also banned public celebration of New Year.

9. MAHARASHTRA Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari felicitated 44 eminent personalities from various walks of life with ‘Maharashtrachi Girishikhare’ awards at a function held at Rangsharada Auditorium in Mumbai on 26 Dec.

10. Omicron Variant: Shirdi Sai Baba temple to be closed during night hrs in Maharashtra. As state govt has announced night curfew from 9-00 PM to 6-00 PM since 25th December, the Sai Baba temple will be closed for devotees in curfew period and many facilities in the temple will also be closed.

12. NAGALAND govt said on Sunday that a committee to look into the withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) will be constituted. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the government said. AFSPA gives powers to the armed forces to detain, arrest anyone without a warrant in “disturbed” areas.

13. The Drug Controller General of India (DGCI) on Saturday granted emergency use authorisation to Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin for children in the 12-18 years age group

14. According to the depositories data, Foreign Portfolio investors, pulled out 17,825 crore rupees from the equities markets, and 5,708 crore rupees from the debt market, resulting into a net withdrawal of 23,533 crore rupees from the Indian capital markets in December 2021.

15. FPIs had pulled out nearly 2,500 crore rupees in November and nearly 12,700 rupees rupees in October. Prior to that, FPIs had invested 26,517 crore rupees in September and 16,459 crore rupees in August.

16. Kanpur-based businessman Piyush Jain has been arrested on charges of tax evasion, days after over ₹200 crore cash was seized from his residence during a raid. Jain is a businessman who deals in pan masala and perfumes.

17. Bollywood actor Salman Khan back at his Panvel farmhouse after being hospitalised over a snake-bite, have gone viral online. Salman is seen with Dr Jalil Parkar in one of the pictures and with actress and politician Bina Kak in another picture shared by the latter on Instagram. Many of Salman’s fans commented on the pics, wishing the actor well.

21. France Orders ‘Cheetah’ Helicopters For Its Armed Forces; France has decided to phase out its aging military helicopters. It already has an advanced fighter, the Rafale jet in its air force, and is working on the Future Combat Aircraft System (FCAS).

22. France has awarded a contract Airbus to commence manufacturing of the H160M Guépard helicopter, popularly called the ‘Cheetah’ for the country’s military. Airbus Helicopters will produce 169 H160M choppers, plus options for the French Air and Space Force, French Army Aviation, and the French Navy starting in 2027. Separately, the European Union stated that the contract is worth 8.6 billion euro ($9.8 billion).
