1. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alert today over parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Maharashtra due to extremely heavy rainfall. Similar conditions will also remain over West Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka.

2. The Central Government has decided to create five new districts, Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra and Changthang in the union territory of Ladakh.

3. Captain Gopichand Thotakura, India’s first civilian space tourist, met Vice-President Shri Jagdeep Dhankar on Monday. He recently travelled to space as part of the crew for Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ space company Blue Origin’s New Shepard-25 (NS-25) mission.

4. Union Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh asserted that the new Bio E3 (“Biotechnology for Economy, Environment, and Employment”), policy rolled out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will place India as a global leader in upcoming years. Addressing the new bio-economic policy in New Delhi, Dr Singh said, the country’s bio-economy has experienced a remarkable growth from ten billion US dollars in 2014 to 130 billion US dollars in 2024.

5. The fifth session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly will commence today. The two-day sitting will witness discussion on matters of Urgent Public Importance. The house is also expected to discuss the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act, 1989, and the Naga Political Issue.

6. In Tripura, the relief operation is gaining momentum with several organisations and individuals coming forward to lend a helping hand to the flood ravaged people of the state. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that his state would provide financial assistance of 20 crore rupees to Tripura.

7. All market committees across Maharashtra have called off the ‘bandh’ scheduled for today. This decision came after a meeting between merchants’ representatives and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. During the meeting, it was decided to form a high-level committee to address various issues raised by merchants. The committee will submit its report within a month.

8. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced a comprehensive plan to tackle the state’s unemployment problem, by bridging the gap between students and companies and creating job opportunities for youth. Speaking after handing over cheques of Rs 1 lakh each to 135 civil service aspirants, who cleared UPSC preliminary exam this year, under the Rajiv Gandhi Civils Abhaya Hastham Scheme.

9. The Andhra Pradesh government will hold ‘Revenue Sadassulu’ (meetings) in villages from September 1 to resolve land-related problems of the locals. Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy stated.

10. The BJP yesterday issued a revised list of 16 candidates for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. Earlier, the BJP had released a list of 44 candidates.

11. The assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases beginning from 18th of next month. The counting will take place on the 4th of October for the 90-member Assembly constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir.

12. Maharashtra’s School Education Minister, Deepak Kesarkar, announced today that the government plans to install panic buttons in schools across the state.

ISRO’s Space Applications Centre and AlphaMERS Ltd. have partnered to develop AI models for detecting marine pollution along India’s coast, including macro plastics and oil spills.The Space Applications Centre (SAC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Ahmedabad has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with AlphaMERS Ltd., a Bangalore-based firm.

14. Ahead of assembly polls, former Chief Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader, Champai Soren is set to join Bharatiya Janata Party on August 30 in Ranchi.

15. Karnataka Finance Department headed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is in favour of the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) that has been approved by the PM Modi administration.

1. The first meeting of the National Task Force formed by the Supreme Court to make recommendations for safety, security and working conditions of medical professionals is scheduled to be held today.

2. In Chhattisgarh, 25 Maoists surrendered in Bijapur district yesterday. They surrendered before the District Superintendent of Police and DIG of CRPF. The Superintendent of Police said that the surrendered Maoists have been provided an amount of 25,000 each under the rehabilitation policy of the Chhattisgarh government.

3. Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continued its searches in Kolkata for the second day today in connection with investigation into the alleged financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

4. The Government has termed a link fake that claims to offer financial aid of over 46 thousand rupees from the Finance Ministry. : In a social media post, the Fact Check Unit of Information and Broadcast Ministry busted the fake news and said that the scam was conducted via a messaging app in the guise of financial aid to the poor.

The recipients were tricked into submitting their personal details through the fraudulent link. The Ministry has denied any such claims and declared the message fake.

5. Telangana state government has decided to extend demolition of illegal structures built on lake beds across all 33 districts. This decision follows the success of the ongoing demolition drive by HYDRAA in Hyderabad, which has received an overwhelming response from the public.

In a major embarrassment for the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra, a giant statue of legendary Maratha King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi barely eight months ago, collapsed in Sindhudurg district on Monday. The Opposition parties have slammed the state government alleging poor quality of work. The 35-foot statue collapsed around 1 pm at Rajkot Fort in Malvan.

7. A court in Thane district on Monday remanded the man arrested for allegedly sexually abusing two minor girls at a school in Badlapur town to 14-day judicial custody.

8. More than 11,000 police personnel have been deployed in Mumbai for Dahi Handi festivities on Tuesday. No Dahi Handi event is being held in Badlapur in Thane district this year due to the horrific incident of two school girls being sexually assaulted, several organisers said.

9. Opposition slams Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath over ‘batenge to katenge’ remark : The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath here on Monday urged people to stay united to reach the pinnacle of prosperity, saying the mistakes that happened in Bangladesh should not happen in India.

1. The Indian Navy’s warship, INS Mumbai, reached Colombo yesterday for a three-day visit with the Sri Lanka Navy ceremonially receiving the ship. This visit marks INS Mumbai’s first visit to a Sri Lankan port and the eighth visit by an Indian Navy ship to Sri Lanka in 2024. During its stay, INS Mumbai will deliver essential spare parts for the Dornier maritime patrol aircraft operated by the Sri Lanka Air Force.

2. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) intended to develop advanced testing facilities within the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC).

The five DPSUs (Defence Public Service Undertaking) involved are Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Gliders India Limited (GIL), Yantra India Limited (YIL), and Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEM).

3. IIT-Kanpur To Host India’s Largest, Dedicated, State-Of-Art, Unmanned Aerial Systems Testing Facility. In a groundbreaking collaboration, EndureAir Systems has emerged as the sole private entity partnering with five DPSUs to establish a state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) testing facility at IIT Kanpur.
