Union Home Minister Amit Shah released a book ‘The Emergency Diaries-Years that forged a leader’ in New Delhi. The book delves into the compelling role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, then a young RSS Pracharak, played in the fight against Emergency.

2. The Union cabinet headed by PM Modi on Wednesday passed a resolution to commemorate and honour the “sacrifices of countless individuals who valiantly resisted the Emergency” and its attempt at subversion of the spirit of Indian Constitution.

3. The government has taken the decision for establishing the International Potato Centre South Asia Regional Centre at Agra in Uttar Pradesh.

4. CBSE to give Class 10 students option for second attempt at exams : Class 10 students will have to mandatorily appear for board examinations in February but those who wish to improve their scores will have the option of taking it a second time in May. From 2026, the first round of examinations will be held in mid-February with results in April; the second round in May will be optional with results in June.

5. The East Coast Railway (ECoR) launches a dedicated mobile app, ‘ECoR Yatra’, ahead of Rath Yatra 2025, to offer real-time railway services, accommodation details, and passenger amenities for pilgrims visiting Puri, Odisha, between June 25 and July 7, 2025.

6. Bihar is set to establish its first-ever nuclear power plant under India’s ₹20,000 crore Nuclear Energy Mission. The project, based on Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology, reflects the Centre’s push to expand clean energy and regional power security across states.

7. India launches Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan (DAJA) — a historic tribal empowerment campaign running from 15 June to 15 July 2025 — to bring welfare schemes and services to over 5.5 crore tribal citizens across 1 lakh+ villages, honoring tribal icon Birsa Munda.

8. The Andhra Pradesh government has launched ‘Vidya Shakti’, an online remedial teaching initiative to help academically weak students in government schools catch up using technology-based methods in subjects like Math, Science, and English.

9. 21-year-old Dangeti Jahnavi from Palakollu in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district has been selected for a historic space mission to the Titan Orbital Port Space Station, expected to launch in 2029.

1. Tensions flared yet again along the Assam-Meghalaya border on Wednesday, after a crowd of over 400 villagers from Lapangap and nearby areas in West Jaiñtia Hills in Meghalaya, backed by student unions and pressure groups, stormed a plantation site maintained by the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) of Assam.

2. The Kerala High Court on Tuesday banned the use of water bottles of capacity below five litres, soft drink bottles of capacity lower than 2 litres, straws, plates, cups, and cutlery (all made of single-use plastic) at all government functions and private gatherings. These plastic materials are also banned at all wedding auditoriums, hotels and restaurants.

3. The President of India has assented to a Bill passed by the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, which shields public servants from arrest without government sanction.

The Himachal Pradesh Police (Amendment) Bill, 2024 was passed by the Congress-ruled State Assembly on December 20, 2024. The Bill was opposed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members in the State Assembly on the grounds that it would protect corrupt government officials.

4. The Madhya Pradesh High Court last week dismissed an intra-court appeal seeking permission to perform religious and cultural activities, including Urs (Jalsa) and Namaz, at the tomb of Hazrat Sheikh Muhammad Ghaus in Gwalior, a monument declared of national importance and protected (in 1962) under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958.

5. Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Minister, Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia, in a disproportionate assets case, from his Amritsar residence.

Two persons died while about 20 were feared swept away as cloudburst, flash floods and heavy rain wreaked havoc in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday.

Two bodies were recovered from the Manuni Khad in Kangra district while around 15-20 workers stationed at a labour colony near the Indira Priyadarshini Hydroelectric project site were feared swept away.

1. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has enhanced its auto-settlement limit for advance withdrawals from ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh, enabling quicker access to funds within 3 days. This move is aimed at benefiting crores of subscribers needing urgent financial support.

2. The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has announced its plan to launch the first-ever nationwide household income survey in 2026.

3. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has recently relaxed the priority sector lending (PSL) norms for small finance banks (SFBs). This change reduces the PSL target from 75% to 60%. This regulatory adjustment aims to provide SFBs with greater operational flexibility. It allows these banks to diversify and manage their loan portfolios more effectively. The relaxation is expected to free up approximately ₹40,000 crore for SFBs. This capital can now be used for lower-rated risk and secured assets.

1. Indian Navy is poised to induct its first high-endurance Extra-Large Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (XLUUV), named JALKAPI-XLUUV, within the next one to two years. This advanced platform marks a significant milestone in India’s underwater defense capabilities and is being developed under the Ministry of Defence’s iDEX Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

2 INS Arnala, the first of 16 indigenously designed and built Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC), which is essentially a corvette, was commissioned into the Eastern Naval Command of the Indian Navy on 18 June 2025. The commissioning ceremony took place at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam, in the presence of General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff.

3. F-414 Jet Engine Deal: HAL Chief Says India-US Deal to Produce F-414 Jet Engines to be Sealed by March 2026: The HAL chairman confirmed that negotiations with General Electric for F-414 engine technology transfer are nearly complete, with a joint production deal expected by March 2026.

4. Reliance Defence has secured a ₹600 crore export order from Germany’s Rheinmetall for defense equipment.

5. The Eastern Command of the Indian Army conducted FPV drone training at 14,000 feet to enhance tactics and test the limits of indigenous drones in high-altitude conditions.

6. Brahmos Aerospace has delivered 15 of the 35 Manick small turbofan engines ordered for DRDO’s 1,500 km Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM).
