1. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday (February 24, 2026) approved three multi-tracking railway projects at a cost of ₹9,072 crore.
*The projects include the construction of a second line on the Gondia (Maharashtra)—Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) section and the addition of third and fourth lines between Punarakh and Kiul in Bihar, and between Gamharia and Chandil in Jharkhand.
2. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari launched the upgraded RAJMARG PRAVESH web portal to streamline the process of obtaining No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for access and utility works along National Highways.

1. In a rare show of solidarity, nearly 60 students of IIM Nagpur skipped their examinations to protest the administration’s move to debar over 40 students for allegedly staying out of campus overnight without prior permission.
2. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday provisionally attached Reliance Group chairman Anil Ambani’s Mumbai residence ‘Abode’, valued at Rs 3,716.83 crore, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with an alleged bank loan fraud case linked to Reliance Communications (RCOM).
3. Hyderabad Cyber Crime police have carried out multiple raids in a 10-day special operation codenamed `Operation Octopus,’ and arrested 104 accused involved in thousands of cyber fraud cases across the country. The analysis of 151 bank accounts linked to the accused were used in investment, trading and digital arrest scams, where the victims had lost about 127 crore.
4. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said the Election Commission will take strict action to prevent cash or freebies from influencing voters in the upcoming Puducherry Assembly elections.
5. In Jammu and Kashmir, security forces recovered a cache of arms and explosives during a cordon and search operation in the Kasbalari area of Mendhar sub-division in Poonch district.

1. The Indian Army’s Southern Command staged a formidable display of military prowess during Exercise Agni Varsha at the Pokhran Field Firing Range in Rajasthan on 24 February 2026. This large-scale integrated fire and manoeuvre exercise underscored the force’s operational readiness and seamless combat capabilities across the desert sector.
2. India has formally requested Dassault Aviation to submit its comprehensive bid for the 114 Multi-Role Fighter Aircraft (MRFA) by the end of April 2026.
3. The indigenous TEJAS Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) has been side-lined from a crucial full-dress rehearsal of Exercise Vayu Shakti, India’s premier air power demonstration, following a recent accident that has grounded the fleet, reported Economic Times.Scheduled for 27 February at the Pokhran range, the exercise was meant to showcase the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) rapid strike capabilities.
4. The Indian Navy is intensifying its air defence training regime by seeking next-generation expendable aerial target drones. These high-speed systems aim to replicate the threat posed by modern sea-skimming anti-ship missiles during live-fire exercises.
5. The 7th edition of the India–Japan Joint Military Exercise ‘Dharma Guardian’ has commenced at the Foreign Training Node in Chaubattia, Uttarakhand. The exercise will be conducted from 24 February to 9 March 2026.
6. The 7th All India Conference of Government Railway Police (GRP) Chiefs, convened by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), concluded successfully at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
The conference was presided over by Director General, RPF, Sonali Mishra, and witnessed participation from DGPs, ADGPs, and senior officers of GRP from various states and Union Territories.
