1. Lok Sabha Election 2024 Phase 2: Voting has begun in 88 constituencies across 13 states and Union Territories. Elections for the second phase will be held for 20 seats of Kerala, 14 seats in Karnataka, 13 in Rajasthan, eight each in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, seven in Madhya Pradesh, five each in Assam and Bihar, three each in Bengal and Chhattisgarh and one each in Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur and Tripura.
2. Earlier, 89 constituencies were expected to vote in this phase. But polling in Betul, Madhya Pradesh, was rescheduled after the death of a candidate from Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party. Betul will now vote in the third phase, due on May 7.
3. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is preparing for another important milestone of the Gaganyaan mission — India’s first human space flight. And the first Integrated Air Drop Test (IADT) is likely to happen by April end.“It is likely to happen around 30 April,” ISRO chairperson S. Somanath said.
4. BJP candidate from Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency K Madhavi Latha declared her family assets, both moveable and immovable worth ₹ 218.38 crore. She will take on All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and sitting MP Asaduddin Owaisi and the Congress has announced Mohammed Waliullah Sameer as its candidate.
5. The process of nominations for the general elections in Andhra Pradesh ended on Thursday. As many as 731 candidates filed their papers for the 25 Lok Sabha seats while 4,210 aspirants entered the fray for the 175 Assembly seats.

The BJP in Ladakh is facing discontent within its ranks, as sitting Member of Parliament (MP) Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, whom the party has not nominated for the upcoming polls, rallied supporters on Wednesday and expressed his unhappiness over the choice of Tashi Gyalson as the party candidate for the seat.

Elections to the posts of mayor and deputy mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi that were slated for April 26 were postponed on Thursday, with Lt Governor V K Saxena citing ‘unprecedented’ circumstances where the chief minister is under judicial custody and cannot discharge his constitutionally obligated functions.
8. Jawaharlal Nehru University is set to accept the National Eligibility Test (NET) as the selection parameter for PhD admissions from the current academic year, a move being criticised by teachers’ associations.
9. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Thursday said Kalpana Soren, wife of jailed former CM Hemant Soren, would contest the Gandey Assembly bypoll. The seat fell vacant following the resignation of JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmad. The bypoll is scheduled on May 20 along with the Lok Sabha poll in the state.
10. A five-member medical board set up on the direction of a city court has suggested the administration of low-dose insulin to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal twice a day for the next five days in Tihar Jail.

1. The Supreme Court’s Registry has refused to register a writ petition questioning the Collegium system of appointment of judges in High Courts and the top court for the issue has already been settled in Constitution bench judgement in 2016 in National Judicial Appointment Commission Act, 2014.

1. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has unveiled regulations under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) to facilitate the direct listing of Indian companies on international stock exchanges. These regulations aim to streamline foreign exchange transactions and reporting procedures, offering companies greater flexibility in utilizing funds raised through overseas listings.
2. The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) has recommended candidates for the positions of Managing Director (MD) at State Bank of India (SBI) and Indian Bank. Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh has been proposed for SBI MD, while Asheesh Pandey has been recommended for Indian Bank MD.

1. A remotely Piloted Aircraft of the Indian Air Force met with an accident near Jaisalmer during a routine training sortie.As per the reports by Indian Air Force, no damage to any personnel or property has been reported. A court of inquiry has been constituted to find out the cause of the accident.
