The Tamil Nadu government has recently passed The Factories (Tamil Nadu Amendment) Bill, 2023 to amend the Factories Act, 1948, in a bid to provide greater flexibility to the manufacturing sector. The proposed amendment suggests inserting a new Section 65A in the Act, which will allow factories to have flexible working hours.

1. The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday stayed a Madras High Court order in January that set aside the ban on the sale of gutka, pan masala and other tobacco products in Tamil Nadu.
2. A court in New Delhi is likely to deliver on Wednesday its order on the bail application of Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia in a money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam

The Supreme Court has issued a notice to Delhi Police in response to a petition filed by wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat, against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan over alleged mental harassment. They had requested that the police file a case, complaining that there had been a significant delay.
4. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday filed an appeal in the Gujarat High Court challenging the order of the Surat sessions court which had declined to stay his conviction in a criminal defamation case over his “Modi surname” remark.
5. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is carrying out searches at more than a dozen locations in parts of the country including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, Punjab’s Ludhiana and Goa. 7. Cyberabad Police has busted an inter-state gang circulating fake Indian currency notes in Telangana and other states and arrested a 13-member gang, police said on Tuesday. Counterfeit currency notes worth over ₹30.68 lakh were seized.
8. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar faced a massive backlash from the Opposition after the state government issued a notification for the release of don-turned-politician and ex-MP Anand Mohan Singh and 26 others.
