India Soon To Acquire Fastest Supercomputer For Weather Forecasting: Rijiju.
India will soon acquire its fastest supercomputer worth Rs 900 crore and it is expected to start functioning by March next year, Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Wednesday in Noida. “The new computer can improve forecasting from 12 to 6 km. Compared to the Cray XC-40 supercomputer ‘Mihir’ with a performance of 6.8 petaFLOPS (PFLOPS), India’s fastest supercomputer at present, the new supercomputer will have nearly thrice the capability, viz 18 PFLOPS,” said Rijiji. “

(ii) The designing of the new building was done by Ahmedabad-based HCP Design and Management Pvt Limited. Tata Projects won the contract to build the new Parliament building, a part of the Centre’s Central Vista redevelopment plans.

(iii) PM Modi laid the foundation stone of the New Parliament Building on 10 Dec 2020. The new building is an intrinsic part of the vision of ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat’

(iv) Old Parliament building was designed by the British architects Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker and was constructed between 1921 and 1927. It was opened in January 1927 as the seat of the Imperial Legislative Council.

5. Union housing and urban affairs minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday slammed Congress over its objection to inauguration of the new Parliament building by PM Modi.

Taking a dig at Congress, the Union minister in another tweet said that, the Prime Minister inaugurating the new building was not the first time:

(a) 24 October, 1975 — the day when Smt Indira Gandhi inaugurated the parliament annexe!

(b) 15 August 1987,
Shri Rajiv Gandhi laid the foundation of the parliament library.

1. The Gyanvapi Mosque Committee has told a Varanasi court that Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb wasn’t cruel, nor did he demolish any Lord Adi Vishweshwar Temple. The committee also said that no Shivling was found last year inside the Gyanvapi Mosque premises and the object that is being claimed to be a Shivling is actually a fauvara (fountain).

2. UP Police have busted an interstate gang of child traffickers that was active in Varanasi. The gang lifted around 50 children in a year and sold them for around ₹2-10 lakh in states like Bihar, Jharkhand and Rajasthan, police said. Police have arrested 10 gang members including three women and have recovered three toddlers.
