Gyanvapi Masjid: No ASI Survey Till 5 PM on Wednesday as SC Stays Varanasi Court Order. The ASI survey will exclude the area under seal at the Gyanvapi mosque. This area is where Hindus insist a Shivling has been found, while Muslims claim it is part of a fountain.

1. India Meteorological Department, IMD, has issued red alerts for Kerala and Coastal Karnataka expecting Heavy to very heavy rainfall with the possibility of extremely heavy downpours.

It has also warned Andhra Pradesh, Konkan, and Goa of heavy to very heavy rainfall and issued orange alerts for these states during the next three to four days.

2. In Tripura, a moderate-intensity earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter Scale hit Khowai district and adjoining areas of Bangladesh at 3.34 pm yesterday, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said.

3. President Smt Droupadi Murmu will be on a three-day visit to Odisha from today (25 Jul). The President will interact with a group of medical students sponsored by ATUT-BANDHAN family and lay the foundation stone for a new building block of Raj Bhavan Odisha at Bhubaneswar.

4. President Smt Droupadi Murmu presented the National Geoscience Awards-2022 at a ceremony in New Delhi.

The Award is instituted by the Ministry of Mines with the aim to honour individuals and teams for achievements and contributions in various fields of geosciences. Twenty-two geoscientists, including two women, were awarded.

5. PM Modi will dedicate to the nation the International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) complex at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on Wednesday.

6. Both Houses of Parliament witnessed protests from the Opposition parties for the consecutive third day on 24 Jul over the issue of Manipur violence.

7. The government informed the Rajya Sabha that around one crore 19 lakh houses have been sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban, PMAY-U so far.

8. Under Jal Jeevan Mission, 9.34 crore rural households have been provided the tap water connections till July 15 this year.

9. The Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan has informed that over 27 lakh 87 thousand candidates were skilled under Pradhan Mantri Koushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) between 2020 and 2023.

10. The Union health ministry is preparing to introduce a comprehensive health initiative named ‘Ayushman Bhav,’ with the goal of ensuring effective implementation of all state-run health schemes to reach each intended recipient.

11. In Jammu and Kashmir, amid tight security arrangements, the 22nd batch of over 3800 pilgrims left for the holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath Ji from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas, Jammu early morning yesterday (24 Jul) for the twin base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam in Kashmir.

12. The Gujarat government has unveiled the Semiconductor Policy (2022-2027).

13. Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region G. Kishan Reddy has said that Government has adopted a multi-pronged approach to contain cross-border infiltration which includes tactical deployment of Border Security Force along the International Borders and establishment of electronic surveillance.

14. The first goods train carrying essential commodities arrived at the Khongsang Railway Station in Manipur on 24 Jul. CM N. Biren Singh received the goods train. The train was flagged off from Guwahati on 23 Jul.

The train has 12 bogies and each bogy has a capacity of 60 metric tonne. The commodities consist of rice, onion, potato, and others.

15. Samajwadi Party leader Shalini Yadav, who fought against PM Narendra Modi for the Varanasi seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha Polls, joined the BJP on Monday.

16. Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis has said that Deputy CM Ajit Pawar won’t become the CM of Maharashtra. He said the CM’s post could be of interest to any party, but asserted there won’t be a change and Eknath Shinde will continue as the CM. “Ajit Pawar was made aware of this prior to the alliance,” Fadnavis added.

17. The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has issued a red alert of heavy to very heavy rains with extremely heavy spells at a few places, likely to occur in Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanmakonda today.

1. The archaeological survey of India (ASI) started the survey of the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi yesterday. Later the survey was stopped till 4 pm of 26 July after the supreme court order. The survey was being conducted with the aim to ascertain whether the mosque was built on the remains of a temple.

2. At least five police personnel were injured when an agitated crowd attacked the chief minister’s secretariat in western Meghalaya’s Tura town on Monday.

3. India’s federal cybersecurity agency- CERT-In cautions against ransomware ‘Akira’ attack.

4. 6. A married Indian woman who travelled legally to a remote village in Pakistan to meet her Facebook friend will return to India on August 20 when her visa expires, her Pakistani friend said on Monday, dismissing reports of any love affair between them.

Nasrulla, 29, said that he has no plan of marrying 34-year-old Anju, who was born in Kailor village in Uttar Pradesh and lived in the Alwar district of Rajasthan.

7. The Supreme Court has refused to stay the delimitation of parliamentary and Assembly seats in Assam. The delimitation process was challenged in the top court by nine parties, including Congress, Raijor Dal, Assam Jatiya Parishad, CPI(M), CPI, TMC, NCP, RJD and Anchalik Gana Morcha. The court sought responses from the Centre and EC in three weeks.

1. In Gujarat, at least four people were killed and more than 4 were feared trapped after a three-story building collapsed on Datar Road in Junagadh this afternoon. The rescue operation is underway.

2. In Uttarakhand, over 200 circuit roads connecting villages in hilly areas have been blocked for vehicular traffic following heavy rains and landslides at several places in the state over the past few days.

1. The government has approved an interest rate of 8.15 percent on deposits under the Employees Provident Fund scheme for the financial year 2022-23.

3. Elon Musk, owner of Twitter launched the new logo of Twitter ‘X’ by replacing the iconic bird logo. The domain X.com is now being redirected to Twitter. Mobile apps still appear to feature the blue bird though it is likely this will change once they are updated.

4. Government of India’s Information Commissioner Uday Mahurkar called the recitation of Bhagavad Gita during a sex scene in ‘Oppenheimer’ an “insult to the Gita and our civilisation”. He added that it was “totally unwarranted”. “The intention of the movie isn’t bad…It’s a matter of pride for India when a scientist of Western origin says he drew inspiration from…Gita,” said Uday.

5. Actor Shah Rukh Khan on Monday shared Vijay Sethupathi’s look from their upcoming action thriller ‘Jawan’. The film, which is set to release on September 7, also stars Nayanthara, Deepika Padukone and Sanya Malhotra in pivotal roles.
