10. The Odisha government is initiating project to empower local communities in forest management. As part of a new phase under the Forest Rights Act, 100 villages are set to receive direct funding into their bank accounts.

11. The Vishwamitri River in Vadodara, is undergoing flood mitigation project due to severe flooding in previous years. The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has initiated a three-phase plan to desilt, dredge and modify the river channel.

1. Ten opposition MPs have been suspended from yesterday meeting of the Joint Committee of Parliament on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 following a ruckus.

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 aims to bring significant reforms, including digitisation of records, stricter audits, increased transparency, and legal mechanisms to reclaim illegally occupied Waqf properties. The Bill is aimed at reforming the management and regulation of Waqf properties across the country.

2. Allahabad high court on Wednesday dismissed a writ petition seeking direction to the state authorities to permit the mounting of loudspeakers on a Masjid.

The court observed that the religious places were for offering prayers, therefore the use of loudspeakers was not a matter of right.

3. Security forces arrest 14 Maoists in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.

4. Madhya Pradesh government bans liquor sale in 17 religious towns including Ujjain, Maihar, Omkareshwar, Orchha and Chitrakoot. This decision will come into effect on 1 April.

5. Central Bureau of Investigation has conducted searches across seven locations after registering a case of Rs 350-crore crypto ponzi scam against seven persons.

6. The Supreme Court today gave absolute protection from arrest to Bharat Inder Singh Chahal, a former media adviser to the then Punjab Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, in a case lodged against him for allegedly having assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

1. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh yesterday flagged off Battlefield Surveillance System SANJAY in New Delhi. This surveillance system will enhance battlefield transparency and transform the future battlefield as it is equipped with state-of-the-art sensors and cutting-edge analytics. It will be inducted into the Indian Army in three phases starting from March this year.

2. India is gearing up to deploy its first human-operated underwater submersible as part of the Deep Ocean Mission. Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the submersible, designed for a depth of up to 500 meters, is expected to launch this year, with plans to extend its reach to 6,000 meters by next year.

3. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) is set to launch a “when-listed” trading platform. This initiative aims to regulate the trading of shares between the allotment phase of an initial public offering (IPO) and their official listing on stock exchanges. This move is designed to tackle the prevalent grey market activities associated with unlisted shares.

4. India’s indigenous short-range surface-to-surface missile, Pralay, will make its maiden appearance at this year’s Republic Day parade, marking a significant milestone in the country’s defense capabilities.
