1. President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M.Venkaiah Naidu and PM Modi have extended their greetings to nation on the eve of auspicious Christmas.

2. India’s Covid vaccination coverage has crossed 140 crore 93 lakh mark. The cumulative figure stands at 140 crore 93 lakh 45 thousand and 905 so far. Out of the total vaccination, more than 83 crore 42 lakh vaccine doses have been administered as first dose, while over 57 crore 50 lakh doses have been administered as second dose.

3. PM Modi chaired the first meeting of the High Level Committee (HLC) which has been constituted to commemorate 150th Birth Anniversary of Sri Aurobindo in a befitting manner. The notification of the HLC was issued on 20th of this month and it comprises 53 members from various walks of life.

4. Sri Aurobindo (born Aurobindo Ghose; 15 August 1872 – 5 December 1950) was an Indian philosopher, yoga guru, maharishi, poet, and Indian nationalist.[2] He was also a journalist, editing newspapers such as Bande Mataram.

5. PM Modi to virtually address Gurpurab celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Gurudwara Lakhpat Sahib in Kutch, Gujarat through video conferencing. Every year from 23rd December to 25th December, Sikh Sangat of Gujarat celebrate the Gurpurab of Guru Nanak Dev at this Gurudwara. Guru Nanak Dev had stayed at Lakhpat during the course of his travels.

6. DELHI has administered first dose of Covid vaccine to 100 per cent eligible people. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, one crore 48 lakh 33 thousand beneficiaries were administered first dose.

7 J& K : A Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist was killed and two terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba were arrested in Anantnag and Budgam of J&K respectively on Friday. The terrorist who was killed was identified as Shahzad Ahmad Seh. “He was involved in a number of terror crimes,” J&K Police said. Separately, incriminating material, two hand grenades, two AK-47 magazines, etc were recovered from arrested terrorists.

8. HARYANA became the third state to bring back night curfews in view of rising cases of the highly contagious Omicron variant of Covid following Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Starting 24 Dec night, public commute will be prohibited from 11 pm to 5 am across Haryana till further orders. CM Manohar Lal Khattar said.

9. MANIPUR , Chief Minister N. Biren Singh handed over financial assistance to fifteen football clubs participating in the Manipur State League. This is the first time in the State that financial assistance is being provided to the football clubs participating in the Manipur State League.

10. MAHARASHTRA govt on Friday imposed a night curfew from 9 pm-6 am starting from 24 Dec in view of Omicron threat and added not more than five people are allowed at public places during night. Further, only 100 people can attend weddings and religious programmes in closed spaces and 250 people in open spaces. Hotels and spas can operate at 50% capacity.

11. Punjab : Ludhiana blast: Alleged bomber identified as dismissed cop, motive being probed. Gagandeep was dismissed from the police, which also led to a rift between him and his wife. He had later started indulging in illegal activities too. The explosion took place in a washroom on the second floor of the District and Sessions court complex in Ludhiana around 12:22 pm on December 23.

12. TELANGANA : With Omicron cases rising in the state, several schools which had earlier shifted completely to physical classes are now reverting to online or hybrid modes. School managements are now offering parents the option to carry on with physical classes or shift to the online model.

13. Uttar Pradesh govt has announced night curfew in the state from today. In view the rising cases of Omicron infection in the country. The night curfew will be in place from 11pm to 5am.

14. UTTARAKHAND : Chief Election Commissioner of India Sushil Chandra and his team reviewed poll preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in Uttarakhand during their two-day visit to Dehradun. He informed that the term of the State Legislative Assembly is ending on 23 March 2022. There will also be a system of voting at home for the voters above 80 years. VVPATs will be installed at all polling booths. 11,647 polling booths, including 623 new one will be set up.

15. WEST BENGAL : Former Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) Chairman and ex-Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) leader Binay Tamang joined Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Kolkata on Friday.

16. Foreign investors pulled out over 17,500 crore rupees from the Indian capital markets so far in December.

According to the depositories data, Foreign Portfolio Investors pulled out 13,470 crore rupees from the equities markets, and 4,066 crore rupees from the debt market, resulting in a net withdrawal of 17,536 crore rupees from the Indian capital markets in December.

17. Govt has said that the market size of Ayush has grown by 17% during 2014 to 2020 to reach 18.1 billion dollars. As per the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) report, despite a slump in economic activity in 2020 due to Covid pandemic, the industry is projected to reach 20.6 billion dollars in 2021 and 23.3 billion dollars in 2022. Ayush Ministry said that it is determined to revive and promote the traditional Indian medicine system.

18. Tamil actor-comedian Vadivelu has been admitted to a private hospital after testing positive for COVID-19. Vadivelu had returned from London on Thursday. According to doctors, the actor is stable and recovering well.

19. Kannada filmmaker KV Raju passes away of heart attack aged 67 due to prolonged illness, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce President DR Jairaj said on Friday. Raju began his career as an assistant director in ‘Baadada Hoo’ (1982). In 1984, he made his directorial debut in ‘Olave Baduku’. He made his Bollywood debut with Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya Prada starrer ‘Indrajeet’ (1991).

20. On the eve of Xmas, India’s first indigenously built INS Khukri Missile Corvettes, was decommissioned. The ceremony of INS Khukri which had been in service for 32 years, took place at Visakhapatnam. In the presence of the chief guest Vice Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Naval Command, the naval ensign, the national flag and the decommissioning pennant were lowered at sunset.

21. Air Force’s MiG-21 fighter jet crashes in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer, pilot martyred
A MiG-21 aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed during a training sortie in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer on Friday and Wing Commander Harshit Sinha was martyred. The aircraft that took off from Jaisalmer Air Base, crashed at around 8.30 pm in the Desert National Park.
