Women secured the top four slots in Civil Services Exam 2022, with Delhi University graduates Ishita Kishore from Greater Noida in UP, Garima Lohia from Buxar, Bihar and Smriti Mishra from Noida bagging all-India rank 1, 2 and 4 respectively. IIT alumna Uma Harathi N of Hyderabad took the third spot.
1. The Union Public Service Commission announced the result of the Civil Services Examination 2022 on Tuesday. Ishita Kishore has topped the examination while Garima Lohia secured the second rank. Uma Harathi N secured the third position and Smriti Mishra got the fourth rank.
933 candidates have qualified the examination. Out of these 345 are from general category, 99 from Economically Weaker Sections, 263 from Other Backward Classes, 154 Scheduled Caste and 72 from the Scheduled Tribes.
The civil services examination is conducted annually to select officers of the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and others.
2. President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the country’s “largest” high court campus (in terms of area 165 acres) today on May 24 at Dhurwa in Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand.

8. Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis will inaugurate the second phase of the Samruddhi Mahamarg stretch from Bharvir village in Igatpuri taluka to Shirdi on May 26.
9. In December 2022, PM Modi inaugurated Phase 1 of the Samruddhi Mahamarg comprising 520km stretch between Shirdi and Nagpur.
Once phase 2 of the project is inaugurated, the total stretch of 600km from Nagpur to Bharvir village.

12. A woman in Ranchi has given birth to five babies at Jharkhand’s Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences. The mother gave birth within seven months of conceiving. The babies are thus premature and weigh less than normal. They are all female and have currently been kept under surveillance in the NICU.

1. CBI has again summoned former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede for questioning on May 24. He has been booked for allegedly seeking ₹25 crore bribe for not framing actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in the drugs-on-cruise case. He was Mumbai zonal chief of NCB when raids were conducted on the cruise ship in 2021.
2. Odisha government has banned the use of ganja in religious places, especially all Shiva temples across the state. “Excessive use of ganja in the name of Lord Shiva is polluting the religious spirit,” the order states.
3. Seven months after 23-year-old Faizan Ahmed, a third-year IIT Kharagpur student, was found dead in his hostel room, his body was on Tuesday exhumed from a cemetery in Assam for a second autopsy. The Calcutta HC had earlier ordered the exhumation, stating it was necessary to ascertain the “truth behind the death”. The body will be flown to Kolkata.
