18. *TELANGANA* : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids on the house of Ch Shilpa, a practising advocate of the High Court and reportedly a member of Chaitanya Mahila Sangham (CMS), a frontal organisation of CPI (Maoist) in Hyderabad. The raids were conducted in connection with a girl’s kidnapping case booked by the Visakhapatnam police against Shilpa and others, which is now being investigated by the NIA. She has been reportedly taken into custody.

1. The new portal, NIRYAT (National Import-Export Record for Yearly Analysis of Trade), which is developed as a one-stop platform for stakeholders to get all necessary information related to India’s foreign trade. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said.

2. Govt has increased spending on infrastructure three fold from Rs 2.5 lakh crore to Rs 7.5 lakh crore within the span of 8 years. Centre has introduced PM Gati Shakti for efficient infrastructure creation: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said.

3. Gautam Adani, Asia’s richest person, has pledged to donate ₹60,000 crore to social causes to mark his 60th birthday, which falls on June 24, as well as his father’s 100th birth anniversary. “Adani Family is gratified to commit ₹60,000 crore…towards healthcare, education and skill-development across India,” he tweeted.

1. Actor-producer Vijay Babu, who is accused of rape by an actress, on Wednesday got anticipatory bail from the Kerala High Court. He has been asked to appear before the police probe team on June 27.

DEFENCE:

1. The defence minister Rajnath Singh is expected to be in the UK from July 4.

2. IPS officer Dinkar Gupta was appointed the Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday.

3. Elite Commandos of Armed Forces will be from Permanent Cadre. Not Agniveers.

The Union government recently approved ‘Agnipath’, the new recruitment scheme for the armed forces under which a Agniveer will initially be inducted only for four years.

4. The special forces of the Indian Armed Forces will now have to wait at least four years to get the fresh elite commandos as keeping the significance of the super specialisation, it can be extended only to those joining as permanent cadre of the Army, Air Force and Navy.

A source in the Navy said, “The policy decision on the induction of the Marine Commandos (Marcos) is a work in progress and only those Agniveers who would complete their four-year tenure and join as permanent cadres will be given the specialized training.

5. A “landmark” MoU has been signed between Indian Navy and the Directorate General of Shipping to facilitate transition of Indian Navy personnel into the merchant navy, the defence ministry said on Wednesday.

6. A team of the Indian Air Force arrived in Egypt on Wednesday to participate in a bilateral ‘Tactical Leadership Program’ with the Egyptian Air Force.

Earlier in November, last year, Chief of Air Staff Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari went to Egypt for his five-day visit to attend the Air Power Symposium and Defence Exposition (EDEX) in Cairo. This event was scheduled from November 28 to December 2.
