1. Preparations for 77th Republic Day Parade celebrations are in full swing in the national capital. The parade at Kartavya Path will exhibit a unique blend of the country’s culture, its military prowess and its legacy.

2. PM Modi will distribute more than 61 thousand letters to newly recruited youth in various government departments and organisations at the 18th Rozgar Mela today through video conferencing in 245 locations in the country.

10. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has extended the deadline for online filling of information related to admissions made to the 1st year MBBS course for the academic year 2025-26. As per the latest circular issued by the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB), medical colleges across India can now submit the required admission details up to January 31, 2026 (midnight).

11. President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the Granth Kutir at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Kutir has a collection of around 50 manuscripts and two thousand three hundred books in 11 Indian classical languages.

12. The Banaras Literature Festival has announced the winners of the 2nd Banaras Lit Fest Book Awards 2026. These awards celebrate excellent writing in English, Hindi and other Indian languages.

13. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Dense to very dense fog over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi for the next two to three days. The Met Department also predicted dense fog conditions over Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan till 25th of this month.

1. The Karnataka High Court on Thursday (January 22) directed the State government to appoint a Nodal officer for coordinating action to be taken by various departments, organization in respect of a report by State Legal Services Authority recommending steps to help child beggars.

2. Odisha has announced a complete ban on gutkha, pan masala, and all tobacco and nicotine products. The new rules prohibit manufacturing and sale, while higher GST and excise duties on tobacco products will come into effect from 01 February 2026.

3. The Vigilance and Enforcement Department’s Hyderabad City-I unit conducted a surprise route check in the city, levying taxes and penalties amounting to over ₹21.5 lakh during the operation.

4. Delhi high court has set aside the bail granted to an accused who was allegedly part of the mob that indulged in stone-pelting during a demolition exercise near Faiz-e-Elahi mosque in Turkman Gate in New Delhi early this month.

1. 77th Republic Day Parade celebrations: Briefing the media in New Delhi, Chief of Staff, HQ, Delhi Area Major General Navraj Dhillon said, that Indian Army will feature debut of a Battle Array Formation showcasing synchronised manoeuvres alongside tanks, missile systems, drones and armoured platforms.

2. The Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority, in the Institutional Category, and Lieutenant Colonel Seeta Ashok Shelke, in the individual Category, have been selected for the Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar 2026 for their excellent work in Disaster Management. The Government instituted Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar to recognize and honour the invaluable contribution and selfless service rendered by individuals and organizations in India in the field of disaster management.

3. Lieutenant Karan Nagyal is set to lead the Indian Navy marching contingent at the Republic Day Parade 2026.

4. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Indian Army and Ministry of MSME on 23 January 2026. This MoU aims to promote cooperation between Indian Army’s Base Workshops and the Corps Zone Workshops with the 33 Technology Centres functioning under the Ministry of MSME.

The objective of the MoU is to promote cooperation in research & manufacturing in technologies like Advanced Multi-Axis Machining, Additive manufacturing (3D Printing), Drone Technology, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Cloud Computing and 5G for data analysis by leveraging upon strength and expertise of respective institutes and workshops.

5. The Centre has appointed Ravi Shankar Chhabi (IPS: 2007, UP cadre) as Deputy Inspector General in the CRPF on central deputation.

6. 1470 Km Bay of Bengal Missile Test Could Signal Dhvani Hypersonic Missile HGV Trial: NOTAM for Feb 5-6 test up to 1470km, likely DRDO’s Dhvani HGV with Mach 5+ speed, 6000-10000km range, stealth, maneuverability; early 2026 test planned.

1. Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh said that the Textile sector has seen a tremendous growth in the last decade from 8.4 lakh crore rupees in 2014 to around 16 lakh crore rupees.

2. A United Nations report has said that the Foreign Direct Investment, FDI inflows to India in 2025 surged by 73 per cent to 47 billion US dollars. The report attributed the surge in the FDI to the policies aimed at integrating the country into global supply chains and large investments in services and manufacturing.
