CRIME REPORT

1. Congress leader Pawan Khera has been released on bail in a case involving his alleged remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.

2. Gujarat Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2023 was passed in the state Assembly with a full majority. An examinee convicted of an offence under this Act shall be debarred from any public examination for two years. According to the Act, ₹1 crore fine and up to 10 years of imprisonment will be imposed for leaking question papers.

3. Arunachal Police busted a Naga rebel outfit camp near the India-Myanmar border in Changlang and recovered arms and ammunition, in a joint operation carried out with Changlang district police and special investigation team (SIT). The operation was carried out against Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG).

4. The police stopped students from screening the BBC documentary on the 2002 Gujarat riots at Visva-Bharati University in West Bengal’s Bolpur. The screening was planned for the same day when Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrived at the university to attend the annual convocation.

5. Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) in Karnataka’s Udupi has suspended 42 students in a month over consumption and peddling of drugs, police said.

6. A 55-year-old man in Mumbai’s Malabar Hill allegedly lost close to ₹20,000 after he clicked on a KYC message link that asked him to update his PAN card details.

7. Police imposed Section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure in Maharashtra’s Nagpur, for two months, to stop unlawful assembly of eunuchs at public places.

1. RBI cancelled Bank License: The registration of Pune-based Kudos Finance and Investments Limited (Kudos Finance and Investments Pvt Ltd) and Mumbai-based Credit Gate Pvt Ltd. has been cancelled. Both NBFCs were involved in regulatory lapses in lending.

According to the world billionaires list by Forbes and Bloomberg, Adani slipped to the 26th and 29th rank, respectively, after his net worth tanked to $42 billion. The fall comes more than a month after Hindenburg Research accused Adani Group of fraud.

9. Three million litres of sewage are dumped into the holy Ganges every day. It is the fifth most polluted river in the world. To reduce the pollution in the river, the Namami Gange Executive Committee recently approved nine projects. These projects are to be implemented at a cost of Rs 1,200 crores.

2. Indian Army has organised classes for the students of Jammu and Kashmir in an attempt to help them continue with their education amid heavy snowfall in the region.

3. Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane and his Sri Lankan counterpart reviewed bilateral ties during 7th Annual Defence Dialogue in New Delhi on Thursday. During the meeting, the ongoing defence cooperation activities between the two countries were reviewed. Both sides agreeing to increase the complexity of bilateral exercises.

4. INDIAN NAVY to get six german Diesel-Electric submarines under Project-75I at a cost of $5.6 billion.

5. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will equip Astra air-to-air missile system on Indian Air Force’s Sukhoi Su-30MKIs, Light Combat Aircraft TEJAS MK-1A and MiG-29 UPG. Astra is a beyond visual range (BVR) air-to-air missile system which has been indigenously designed and developed to take down enemy aircraft and drones.
