1. The United States’ AST SpaceMobile BlueBird Block-2 communication satellite will be launched by ISRO today at 8:54 am local time aboard the LVM3-M6 rocket.

This sixth operational flight of LVM3 is a dedicated commercial mission that will place the satellite into Low Earth Orbit. BlueBird Block-2 will be the largest commercial communication satellite in LEO and the heaviest payload launched by LVM3 from India.

2. President Smt Droupadi Murmu conferred the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar 2025 at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. This is the nation’s highest recognition for exceptional contributions in the fields of science, technology, and innovation. In the second edition of Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar, the awards were given under four categories, including Vigyan Ratna, Vigyan Shree, Vigyan Yuva-Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar and Vigyan Team.

7. The Delhi Cabinet approved an amount of 100 crore rupees to rejuvenate water bodies across Delhi for long-term pollution abatement.

8. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the government is preparing to introduce strict laws to curb the sale of fake seeds and fertilizers. He was addressing a state-level farmers’ conference held in Merta City of Nagaur district.

9. Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan calls for making AI an integral part of curriculum in schools and colleges to equip students with problem solving skills.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has emerged as the most dominant force in the recently-held municipal council and nagar panchayat elections in Maharashtra, securing the highest number of seats in five out of the state’s six administrative divisions, accounting for 30 to 50 percent of the seats in most regions.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 2,431 seats, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena 1,025, and Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) 966, according to the data released by the State Election Commission (SEC).

1. Defence Research and Development Organisation is poised to commence limited series production of the ASTRA MK-2 long-range air-to-air missile from July 2026, marking a transformative moment in the nation’s indigenous defence capability development and strategic positioning within the Asian theatre.

2. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, is scheduled to convene on 26 December 2025 to deliberate on a fresh round of Emergency Procurement (EP) for India’s armed forces.This meeting assumes heightened significance amid ongoing operational demands, including those stemming from Operation Sindoor, a recent counter-terrorism operation in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

3. India has successfully installed a 120-foot dual carriageway Bailey Bridge in Sri Lanka’s Kilinochchi District, a region severely impacted by Cyclone Ditwah.External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar inaugurated the 110-ton structure alongside Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath on 23 December 2025.

4. Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has sparked fresh controversy by claiming that 90 per cent of the technology used by Pakistani forces against India during recent hostilities following Operation Sindoor was indigenous.

He asserted that this Pakistani technology enabled the Pakistan Air Force to down Indian Rafale jets, Sukhoi Su-30s, MiG-29s, Mirage-2000s, and even S-400 air defence systems.

5. India’s Gliders India Ltd (GIL) has developed and inducted a lightweight Hybrid Brake Parachute for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) TEJAS, enhancing landing safety during high-speed recoveries and emergencies. Weighing only 10 kg, it features a Uni-Cross main canopy (5.75 m span, 17 sq m area) with a multi-stage deployment using pilot and auxiliary chutes.
