Sahitya akademi awards 2022

5. The government approves Bharat Biotech’s nasal Covid vaccine for booster dose; this will be available on CoWIN app. According to sources in the Health Ministry, the nasal vaccine has been approved for those aged above 18 years.

6. Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba today said that Good Governance is the only way forward to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to make India a developed country by 2047.

7. PM Modi will address the 75th Amrut Mahotsav of Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Rajkot Sansthan via video conferencing today.

Award for the best literature of the year goes to Writer M. Rajendran from Tamil Nadu has for his novel ‘Kala Pani’. The awards in 23 languages included seven books of poetry, six of novel, two of short stories, three dramas, two literary criticism and one each of autobiographical essays, collection of articles and literary history. Few other award winners are Badri Narayan Narayan would be conferred the award for his collection of poems in Hindi titled ‘Tumadi Ke Shabd’, Anuradha Roy for her novel ‘All the Lives We Never Lived’ in English and Anis Ashfaq for his novel ‘Khwab Sarab’ in Urdu.

3. The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has sent notices to e-commerce players Flipkart and meesho.com for gross violations of norms relating to the sale of acid on their platforms. It has asked two e-commerce entities to furnish detailed responses within 7 days.

4. Thieves broke open a chest at a State Bank of India branch in Kanpur and stole gold worth ₹1 crore after entering its strongroom through a 10-foot-long tunnel.

5. Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Rohini on Friday submitted the narco test report of Aaftab Amin Poonawala in connection with the Shraddha Walkar murder case.

6. Allahabad high court granted bail to Kerala-based journalist Siddique Kappan on Friday in a money laundering case.

1. Gautam Adani will now control 64.71% of NDTV as the company’s Founders Radhika and Prannoy Roy have decided to sell most of their shares.

2. Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, CCEA, approved Minimum Support Prices for copra for 2023 season. the MSP for fair average quality of milling copra has been fixed at 10 thousand 860 rupees per quintal. He said, MSP for ball copra has been fixed at 11 thousand 750 rupees per quintal.

3. Tata Motors is expected to launch the facelifted Harrier and Safari next year and they could be joined by a new electrified model.

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS

1. Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: 26th Delhi Book Fair scheduled between 22nd-26th December at Pragati Maidan.

2. Director SS Rajamouli’s Film RRR features in the global list of Top 50 films of 2022 curated by Sight and Sound magazine. The list also includes Shaunak Sen’s acclaimed documentary All that Breathes.

DEFENCE

1. Cabinet approves revision of pension of Defence Forces Personnel and family pensioner under One Rank One Pension.

The revision will be effective from 1st of July 2019. The arrears will be paid in four half-yearly instalments. However, all the family pensioners, including those in receipt of Special and Liberalised Family Pension and Gallantry Award Winners, will be paid arrears in one instalment.

2. The Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX), the flagship initiative of the defence ministry signed its 150th contract for defence innovation with Altair Infrasec Pvt Ltd on ‘Expendable Mobile Anti-Submarine Warfare Training target’ (EMATT).

It was signed by Joint Secretary (Defence Industries Production) & Additional CEO/DIO Anurag Bajpai with Altair Infrasec Pvt Ltd CEO, Anil Anand.

3. Sixteen Army personnel have lost their lives, and four were injured in a road accident involving an Army truck at Zema, North Sikkim. The accident happened when the vehicle skidded down a steep slope while negotiating a sharp turn.

The Army informed in a press release, that three Junior Commissioned Officers and 13 soldiers succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident.

4. Japan’s Air Self-Defence Force has said that it will carry out joint fighter training along with Indian Air Force from January 16-26. According to officials, it will be the first such training with India to happen in Japan.

5. A Pakistan drone that entered India from along the International Border in Amritsar sector, Punjab, was intercepted by BSF troops, following which it was shot down and seized.

6. J&K Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Friday said the terrorists are trying to vitiating the cordial atmosphere in the Valley by issuing threats to people.
