1. The Indian Parliament will host the two-day 10th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Conference in New Delhi.

The conference will be chaired by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who is also the Chairperson of the CPA India Region. Forty-six Presiding Officers, four Chairmen, 25 Speakers, three Deputy Chairmen, and 14 Deputy Speakers of Legislatures from States and Union Territories, along with their Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, and accompanying officers, will be attending the conference.

2. In Haryana, campaigning is in full swing with leaders of various political parties holding rallies to woo the voters. In Haryana, the single-phase Assembly elections will be held on 5th of next month.

3. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal will visit Australia to participate in the 19th India-Australia Joint Ministerial Commission meeting.

4. The Government has facilitated a refund of more than one crore rupees to students who enrolled for the UPSC Civil Services, IIT and other entrance examinations at various coaching institutes across the country. The Department of Consumer Affairs said that over 656 students claimed refunds from Coaching Centres and Private institutions by registering their grievances on the National Consumer Helpline-1915.

5. The Union Government appointed Justice Tashi Rabstan as Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

6. Delhi’s Chief Minister Atishi has allocated portfolios to her newly sworn-in ministers. The new cabinet currently has five members along with the CM. Chief Minister Atishi will head 13 departments, including Education, Power and Finance. Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj will hold the charge of eight departments, including Health, Urban Development and Social Welfare.

7. An Election Commission of India (ECI) team led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar will be on a two-day visit to Ranchi to review the preparations for upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand.

8. India’s space sector has taken a major step forward as ISRO, IN-SPACe, and NSIL recently signed 75 Technology Transfer Agreements (TTAs) with non-governmental entities (NGEs). This is part of India’s ongoing space reforms to encourage more private sector participation in space activities.

9. The National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2024 will take place on 4 December 2024, and aims to evaluate how well school students in India are learning. This year’s survey will assess around five million students from Classes 3, 6, and 9.

10. The Telangana government has officially declared a holiday for schools and colleges from October 2 to October 14 in celebration of the Dasara festival. Classes will resume on October 15, allowing students a 13-day break to engage in festivities and family time.

11. Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh Tripura (Mahavidyalaya Shiksha) 6th Annual General Meeting have been organized at Maharaja Bir Bikram Shatabarshiki Auditorium Hall, Tripura Central University, Suryamaninagar on Sunday (22nd September, 2024).

13. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated heavy rainfall over Vidarbha for the next five days and Chhattisgarh for the next four days.

1. In a growing controversy over the alleged presence of animal fat in the famed Tirupati laddu, spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has labelled the situation as “beyond disgusting.” Speaking on the matter, he emphasised that temples should be managed by devotees rather than government administrations.

2. The Assam Police and the NIA arrested 15 persons in the state for allegedly planting IED like materials on 15th of August this year.

3. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo moto cognizance of the reported death of a chartered accountant girl from Kerala in Pune due to alleged excessive work load in a private company. The Commission expressed serious concern over the incident and urged the businesses for reviewing their work culture, employment policies and regulations to ensure alignment with global human rights standard.

4. The Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI is interrogating three doctors at CGO Complex in Kolkata in relation to the RG Kar incident. Dr Birupaksha Biswas of Bardhaman Medical College, Dr Avik De of SSKM Medical College of Kolkata and Dr Saurav Paul of RG Kar Medical College are being interrogated.

5. A parliamentary panel examining the Waqf (Amendment) Bill has received a staggering 1.2 crore email responses amid campaigns launched by rival groups to ratchet up support for their respective viewpoints regarding the draft law.

6. In Telangana, Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) took up demolition drive of residential properties in Ameenpur of Sangareddy district on Sunday. According to the police, about 28 houses, all reportedly constructed illegally on Government land, are being demolished.

1. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate Sainik School, Jaipur, in Rajasthan today. The Defence Ministry said that it is part of the government’s vision to set up 100 new Sainik schools across the country in partnership with NGOs, state governments, and private schools.

2. The Indian Navy will host the fifth edition of the Goa Maritime Symposium at Naval War College, Goa.

The two-day symposium will see the participation of Naval representatives from 12 Indian Ocean Littoral countries. These are Bangladesh, Comoros, Indonesia, Madagascar, Malaysia, the Maldives, Mauritius, Myanmar, the Seychelles, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. The observers from Kenya and Tanzania will also attend the event.

3. Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth will chair the Joint State Representatives and Deputy Directors General Conference of the National Cadet Corps in New Delhi. During the conference, a major focus of discussion will be on the implementation of the recently approved expansion plan, which aims to increase NCC cadet strength by three lakhs, raising the total strength from 17 lakhs to 20 lakhs.
