CRIME REPORT

1. Six people were killed and two were severely injured in police firing on Tuesday morning at Mukroh village in West Jaintia Hills district, Meghalaya. Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma confirmed that five from Meghalaya and one Assam Forest Guard were killed in the incident. State government suspended mobile internet services in seven districts.

2. Assam Police along with Assam Forest Guards detained a truck carrying timber at Mukroh village inside Meghalaya, and on hearing the incident; villagers surrounded the Forest Guards and Assam Police which resulted in the firing incident killing six people.

3. Two days after a truck hit several vehicles on the downward slope of Navale bridge on a Mumbai-Bengaluru highway stretch in Pune city and caused a pile-up, at least 35 illegal constructions along the service roads in the area were demolished.

4. Polygraph test on Aaftab Amin Poonawala, accused of murdering his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar, was conducted on Tuesday evening after a city court gave permission to the Delhi police.

1. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on Tuesday said that the initial size of bilateral trade between India-Australia can go up to around USD 45-50 billion in the next 5-6 years.

1. 53rd International Film festival of India, IFFI currently underway in Goa has made special arrangements for Divyangjans to enjoy the festival. Two films for specially-abled persons in Divyangjan Special section to be screened during the festival.

2. The 10th Indian Film Festival in Busan was held from Nov 18-20, 2022. The festival screened selected award winning, critically acclaimed Hindi and popular regional films with Korean sub-titles at Busan Cinema Centre.

Total Six films were screened over a period of three days in Busan. These included: Padmavat (Hindi); Anandi Gopal (Marathi); Asuran (Tamil); Natyam (Telugu); House Owner (Tamil); and Shot Boot-3 (Tamil).

DEFENCE

1. The indigenous Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS) developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) jointly with the private industry crossed a milestone this week by successfully completing the validation trials towards meeting the specifications of the Army.

2. Indian Naval Ships, Shivalik and Kamorta arrived at Busan, South Korea on November 21 for a port call. In an official release, the Indian Navy said the ships are scheduled to undertake professional and social interactions with the Republic of Korea (ROK) Navy, which would also include a maritime partnership exercise at sea.

3. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who is in Cambodia to attend the ASEAN (The Association of South East Asian Nations) (ASEAN) on Intellectual Property Cooperation 2022 Defence Ministers Meet (ADMM) Plus, said on Tuesday that India is committed to the implementation of various initiatives to offer its capacities and experience for strengthening India- ASEAN defence relations.

4. The 13th edition of bilateral exercise between the Indian and the Royal Oman navies, Naseem Al Bahr-2022, commenced off the coast of Oman on 20 November 2022.
