tep Up to End TB World TB Day Summit

1. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandviya to inaugurate the Step-Up to End TB-World TB Day Summit on the occasion of World TB Day on March 24th in New Delhi.

2. A Parliamentary panel recommended that the govt should extend the subsidy component to a minimum of four LPG cylinders per annum to the beneficiaries of Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana, PMUY.

3. *Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved an extension of applicability of New Investment Policy, NIP-2012 for the three units of Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Limited, HURL in Gorakhpur, Sindri and Barauni.

HURL is a Joint Venture Company by Coal India Limited, NTPC, and Indian Oil Corporation. These three facilities integrate the world’s best technologies aiming to meet the demand for urea in Seven States – Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Odisha.

4. PM Modi will inaugurate Biplobi Bharat Gallery at Victoria Memorial Hall in Kolkata today on Shaheed Diwas at 6 PM through video conferencing.

5. The high-speed free Wi-Fi internet facility has now become available at 6,100 railway stations across the country, RailTel said on Tuesday.

6. *ASSAM* : A 54-year-old man, accused of raping two minor sisters, aged eight and five, was shot at by police after he allegedly tried to escape from custody in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district.

7. *CHANDIGARH* administration on 22 Mar Tuesday announced a public holiday on March 23 on the occasion of Bhagat Singh’s death anniversary, also known as Shaheed Diwas. Earlier in the day, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann had declared a public holiday on the occasion. Shaheed Diwas also marks the death anniversary of freedom fighters Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru.

8. *GOA* :. Goa’s Chief Minister designate and BJP leader Dr Pramod Sawant and his cabinet Ministers will be administered oath on 28th of March. The swearing-in ceremony would take place at 11 am at Dr Shyama Prasad Stadium near Baamboli.

9. GOA TO SOON GET A HELICOPTER ENGINES MRO FACILITY BY HAL & SAFRAN. Helicopter Engines MRO Private Limited (HE-MRO), a joint venture of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and Safran organised a ground-breaking ceremony of a new facility in Goa. With a capacity expected to repair 50 engines initially, this facility is set to become functional by the end of 2023 at Sattari which is located 40 kilometres from Panaji.

10. *HARYANA* : CM Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday announced the MLAs from the state will receive a “driver allowance” of ₹20,000 per month. This will be in addition to the travel allowance they are being given at the rate of ₹18 per kilometre, he said. Khattar made the announcement in the Assembly on the concluding day of the budget session.

11. *JAMMU* : After an advocate sought to reopen all cases pertaining to the “massacre” of Kashmiri Pandits, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbagh Singh said that it can be done if there arises a specific need.Speaking to media persons, DGP Dilbagh Singh said, “If something specific comes up, we will pay attention to it.”

One way traffic to ply on Srinagar-Leh National Highway from March 25 said Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole while co-chairing a meeting with Divisional Commissioner Ladakh, Saugat Biswas regarding opening of Srinagar-Leh National Highway. One way traffic to ply from Sgr to Leh on odd days, Leh to Sgr on even days: no traffic movement allowed on Fridays from next week.

13. A policeman was martyred in a “brief shootout” with terrorists near Zoonimar area of Srinagar on Tuesday, police said. The J&K Police constable Amir Hussain Lone (30 years) was critically wounded in the shootout in downtown Soura in Srinagar city and later succumbed in the hospital. The constable belonged to Kupwara district of north Kashmir. This is the fourth terrorist attack on civilians and policemen in last three days in Kashmir.

14. *MAHARASHTRA* govt on Tuesday suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Saurabh Tripathi, who is wanted in the angadia extortion case in Mumbai. The suspension order stated Tripathi was found absent from duty without any information to the authorities. It was also found that he had been exerting pressure on the witnesses in the FIR registered over the case.

15. *NAGALAND*; Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today presented a deficit budget of 2212.74 crore rupees for the financial year 2022-23. Rio who holds the finance portfolio put forth the budget proposals estimating the gross receipts at 23,389.80 crore rupees and gross expenditure at 24,239.50 crore rupees.

16. *RAJASTHAN* Assembly witnessed an uproar on Tuesday after Section 144 was imposed in Kota till April 21 in view of ‘The Kashmir Files’ screening.

17. *WEST BENGAL* : Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Tuesday said that he will meet the President of India over Birbhum violence and will suggest that he considers imposing Article 355 in West Bengal. Chowdhury further said that the special investigation team (SIT) that is probing the matter is of “no use”. “Law and order situation is getting worse,” he added.

Rajya Sabha took up up the Jammu and Kashmir Appropriation Bill, 2022 and the Jammu and Kashmir Appropriation (No.2) Bill, 2022 for consideration and return. The Jammu and Kashmir Appropriation Bill seeks to authorise payment and appropriation of certain further sums from and out of the Consolidated Fund of the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir for the services of the financial year 2021-22. The other bill seeks to authorise payment and appropriation of certain sums from and out of the Consolidated Fund of the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir for the services of the financial year 2022-23. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharam moved the Bill in the Upper House this afternoon for consideration.

21. In a major capability boost for the Indian Army, the Defence Ministry on Tuesday cleared a Rs 4,000 crore proposal for a dedicated surveillance satellite to keep an eye on the activities along the borders with China and Pakistan.”

INDIAN SPY PLANE DEPLOYMENT IN AUSTRALIA LATEST MOVE TO BOLSTER DEFENCE TIES: The upcoming deployment of an Indian spy plane to Australia to conduct maritime surveillance in the Indian Ocean is the first step for both countries to more regularly host visiting forces, with one analyst saying it sets military ties on the same pathway that has led to deepened defence co-operation between Canberra and Tokyo.

23. IN A FIRST, PADMA AWARDEES VISIT NATIONAL WAR MEMORIAL : Padma Awardees on 22 Mar visited the National War Memorial at Delhi. The National War Memorial (NWM) was dedicated to the Nation by PM Modi on February 25, 2019. It stands testimony to the sacrifices made by the gallant soldiers since Independence. Since its inauguration, all homage ceremonies are conducted only at the NWM, including those on National Days.

24. Two pilots of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) were killed after a trainer aircraft crashed near Peshawar during a routine training mission on 22 Mar.

25. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that China is well within its right to set up military facilities on the islands it has built in the South China Sea. US military activities in the area aimed to “stir up trouble”, the spokesperson added. Notably, the comments come after the US claimed that China has fully militarised at least three islands.
