CoWin data theft: Delhi Police nabs Bihar man and minor in probe. Delhi police officials note that the arrested individual is believed to have shared the compromised data on the messaging platform Telegram. The Delhi Police Special Cell has also detained a minor in relation to the suspected data breach of the Cowin Portal. The siblings accessed the data after stealing the credentials of their mother, a nurse deployed for vaccinations.

6. In flood-hit Assam, 4.95 lakh people are reeling under the fury of floods in 22 districts. One person lost his life due to floods at Tamulpur. Several major rivers are flowing above the danger level in Lower Assam.

7. The two-day meeting of the G-20 Labour Engagement Group started in Patna, Bihar with the theme of ‘one earth, one family and one future’.

8. Uttar Pradesh government organised a mass marriage ceremony in Gorakhpur under the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, where 1,500 couples tied the knot.

10. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday inaugurated a colonial era library in Sangrur that was renovated at a cost of ₹1.12 crore.

11. The Central government allocated ₹145 crore to Nagaland for the construction of a Unity Mall in Dimapur, aimed at promoting One District One Product (ODOP) offerings.

12. Himachal Pradesh will establish Rs 250 Crore Milk Processing Plant in collaboration with National Dairy Development Board in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district.

13. World’s largest Ramayan temple in Bihar to be completed by 2025. The Virat Ramayan temple will occupy an area of 3.67 lakh square feet and feature a main structure standing at a height of 270 feet with another structure soaring to 198 feet. The temple itself will span 280 feet in length and 540 feet in width, making it larger in size compared to the Ayodhya temple.

14. Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has successfully conducted a test flight for cloud seeding. The project was initiated at IIT Kanpur a few years ago and is headed by Prof. Manindra Agrawal from the Computer Science and Engineering Department. The experiment was conducted with due approval from the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation).

15. NITI Aayog is likely to launch an application within the next two months that provides a consolidated view of EV charging and battery swapping stations.

1. Directorate of Civil Aviation, DGCA has suspended the licence of an Air India pilot for one year for allowing an unauthorised person into the cockpit of the Chandigarh-Leh flight.

2. The government has asked citizens to be cautious while opening any shortened URL sent over WhatsApp or SMS. “Cyber fraudsters use such methods to mask phishing websites and Android malware,” the government-run Cyber Dost Twitter handle said. Screenshots shared by Cyber Dost showed fraudulent URLs sent via texts masked as notices from the State Bank of India (SBI).

3. Five armed criminals looted ₹27 lakh from a branch of Bank of Baroda (BoB) by firing at a guard in Bihar’s Sheohar, police said. According to police, seven masked persons reached the bank on two bikes, out of which five of them entered the bank premises on the ground floor. The robbers overpowered other customers and looted the cash.

4. Three people were injured in a suspected IED blast in an SUV in the Bishnupur district of violence-hit Manipur on Wednesday. The vehicle was parked in Kwakta, Bishnupur district and bystanders reported that the driver left the vehicle before the blast. The injured persons were rushed to the Bishnupur district hospital.

5. Around 1,137 kg of banned raw sea cucumber, said to be worth ₹5.11 crore, that was dumped in the sea near Mandapam in Tamil Nadu’s Ramanathapuram district has been seized by the Indian Coast Guard. Sea cucumbers are single-branched marine organisms and their collection/trade is banned under Schedule I of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972.

1. Bureau of Indian Standards has published – Food Serving Utensils Made from Agri By-Products – Specification, aimed at reducing plastic pollution and promoting sustainability.

2. Bank of England has raised interest rates by 50 basis points to 5%. This is the highest level in 15 years.

3. Kotak Bank launched ActivMoney facility, a combination that gives customers the benefit of FD like interest up to 7%* p.a., and flexibility to access their funds anytime. Through ActivMoney, excess funds in the account, beyond a defined threshold, are automatically transferred into an FD, thereby helping customers earn high interest on their savings.

4. Vedanta Limited on Thursday refuted reports of the company selling its Sterlite Copper Plant in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi for ₹4,500 crore and called such reports “wrong, baseless and incorrect”.

1. A Nepal court on Thursday lifted the ban on Hindi films, including ‘Adipurush’. The Hindi films were banned in Pokhara and Kathmandu after a controversy had erupted over a dialogue of ‘Adipurush’ in which Sita was called “India’s daughter”.

2. The Income Tax Department on Thursday conducted surprise searches at the houses and offices of several popular YouTubers, including actress and content creator Pearle Maaney, in Kerala. These YouTubers earn over an estimated ₹1-2 crore annually. As per the GST provisions, YouTubers with an annual turnover of more than ₹20 lakh have to compulsorily get registered under the GST Act.

3. American a cappella group Penn Masala on Thursday performed a rendition of the Bollywood song ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ at the White House for PM Narendra Modi’s welcome.
