Political crisis has deepened in Maharashtra June 2022

1. Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy inaugurates ‘Jyotirgamaya’ festival showcasing talent of unsung performers in New Delhi.

2. The Congress will observe a ‘Satyagraha’ against the ‘Agnipath’ recruitment scheme on June 27 (Monday). It will be led by MLAs, MPs and leaders from 10 am to 1 pm at all assembly constituencies in their respective states.

7. *HIMACHAL PRADESH* , a three-day workshop on ‘Gender Responsible Governance’ is being organized in Dharamshala. Around 116 women MLAs from five States and one Union Territory are participating in this workshop.

9. *KARNATAKA* : Former PM and JD(S) leader HD Deve Gowda on Wednesday said that Droupadi Murmu is a suitable candidate to be the President of India. Murmu was recently announced as the National Democratic Alliance’s Presidential candidate.

10. *KARNATAKA* CM Basavaraj Bommai inaugurated an IKEA store in Bengaluru’s Nagasandra on Wednesday. Spread over 4.6 lakh square feet, this is said to be the largest IKEA outlet in the country. “The company heads have assured 75% jobs for the local people,” Bommai said.

12. *MAHARASHTRA*: Political crisis has deepened in Maharashtra. Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) govt in Maharashtra is facing its crisis since coming into power in 2019.

13. Senior Shiv Sena leader and state cabinet minister Eknath Shinde has rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray leadership. Mr Shinde has claimed the support of 40 Shiv Sena MLAs out of a total of 55.

14. Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray left Maharashtra CM’s official residence ‘Varsha’ in Mumbai. A video showed him leaving the bungalow after his staffers were seen putting his packed luggage in a car. He would be moving to his family home ‘Matoshree’, according to reports.

15. Rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde on Wednesday said, “It is essential to get out of the unnatural front for the survival of the party and Shiv Sainiks.”

16. Amid a political crisis in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Wednesday said that Uddhav Thackeray is Chief Minister of Maharashtra and he will remain the CM. He also said, “If we get the chance, we will prove our majority on the floor of the House.” Notably, Thackeray had said that he was ready to resign from the post.

20. *TAMIL NADU* : 2nd batch of the relief materials for Sri Lanka, mobilized by the Tamil Nadu Govt, were dispatched on 22 June. The State Ministers including Geeta Jeevan and Senji Masthan flagged off the merchant vessel to Colombo, carrying 14,700 metric tonnes of rice, 250 tonnes of milk powder and 50 tonnes of essential medicines.

21. *TELANGANA* : Speaking at the launch of defence company Vem Technologies Private Limited in Zaheerabad, Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao said the state will play a crucial role in ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. “Vem’s investment in Zaheerabad will ensure significant growth for India’s defence sector,” KTR said. Vem’s investment across 511 acres of land would provide direct employment to 2,000 people, KTR added.

22. *TRIPURA* : The Election Commission of India has announced the scheduled for the by-elections to the four vacant Assembly seats in Tripura — Agartala, Town Bordowali, Surma and Jubarnagar — which will be held on June 23. Votes will be counted on June 26.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday reiterated her “fullest support and cooperation” for Sri Lanka amid the latter’s economic turmoil during a meeting with Sri Lankan High Commissioner Milinda Moragoda. India has so far extended loans worth $4 billion to the cash-strapped country. Notably, Sri Lanka plans to host a donor conference and invite countries, including India, to it.

1. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh holds bilateral talks with Austrailan Deputy PM Richard Marles; reviews defence cooperation between two countries.

2. Defence Ministry has approved establishment of wayside amenities – BRO Cafes on 75 border roads in twelve States and Union Territories. These are intended to provide basic amenities and comfort to the tourists and lead to boosting of economic activities in border areas, besides generating employment for the local people.

3. In Odisha, three CRPF jawans were martyred in an ambush by the Maoists in the Nuapada district.

4. Army chief General Manoj Pande will visit Nepal in August, according to reports. Pande will be conferred with the title of honorary General of Nepali Army by Nepal’s President Bidya Devi Bhandari during the official visit.

5. Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and Larsen and Toubro (L&T) on Tuesday jointly delivered the 100th Akash Air Force Launcher (AAFL) for the Indian Air Force, developed with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
