1. The World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in the Cooperative Sector is a major initiative launched by the Government of India, aiming to significantly increase foodgrain storage capacity in the country through the cooperative sector. Launched by:

2. The Government said the preparation for Census 2027 has started with the publication of gazette notification on 16th of last month.

3. The Election Commission has said that over seven crore 68 lakh electors have been covered in Bihar so far under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiative. According to the Commission, over 21 lakh 35 thousand remaining enumeration forms are yet to be received.

4. In Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development projects in Naxal affected Gadchiroli district.

5. Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched a dedicated web portal to support families affected by terrorism. The portal will centralize district-wise data, track relief efforts, and ensure no genuine case is missed.

6. Bihar has become the first state in the country where every polling station will now cater to fewer than 1,200 voters.

7. The Department of Financial Services (DFS) of the Central Government has decided to cover all 6,794 Gram Panchayats in Odisha under the ongoing nationwide campaign for financial inclusion.

8. The Indian Parliament recently passed The Bills of Lading Bill, 2025. This law replaces the old Indian Bill of Lading Act of 1856. It modernises and simplifies rules around shipping documents. The bill was approved in the Rajya Sabha by voice vote.

9. Every year on July 22, India observes National Flag Day, also known as Tiranga Adoption Day, marking the day in 1947 when the Constituent Assembly of India formally adopted the Indian National Flag.

10. The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) recently celebrated its 44th Foundation Day, reaffirming its commitment to rural development, financial inclusion, and institutional strengthening. Established in 1982, NABARD plays a pivotal role in enabling sustainable and inclusive growth in India’s rural landscape.

11. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has called on the district collectors and all department heads to remain on high alert to ensure public safety and uninterrupted services in view of heavy rains in some parts of the state.

14. In Uttarakhand, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Dehradun and Tehri districts. Meanwhile, in Pithoragarh district, the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra route has been blocked due to a rockfall near Lamari. The Border Roads Organisation is working to restore the route.

18. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltista and Muzaffarabad.

1. The Maharashtra government moved the Supreme Court against the Bombay High Court’s decision to acquit all 12 accused in the 7/11 train blasts case of 2006. The Supreme Court has agreed to list the case for hearing on 24 July.

The blasts, which occurred on 11th July 2006, killed over 180 people and injured several others across Mumbai’s suburban train network.

2. Union Minister Chirag Paswan has accused the opposition for spreading confusion regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiative, which is currently underway in Bihar.

3. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday ordered a full review of the city’s welfare schemes, citing “serious irregularities” in widow pensions and disability support handed out under the previous Aam Aadmi Party administration.

4. Bharatiya Janata Party hit out at congress over the arrest of National Student’ Union of India (NSUI) Odisha President Udit Narayan, in charges of rape.

1. The Indian Army received its first batch of three American-origin Apache attack helicopters on July 22, 2025. This highly anticipated development marks a significant milestone for India’s defence forces, signalling both modernisation and a strengthened aerial combat edge for the Army.

2. A British F-35 fighter jet, which was grounded in Kerala due to technical issues, has finally been able to return to its base after a month-long delay.

3. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has formally sought approval for 20,000 new troops from the Union Home Ministry, primarily for deployment in Kashmir and Manipur in light of growing security needs.

4. Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) has launched the final ship in an eight-vessel anti-submarine warfare series for the Indian Navy, further strengthening naval capabilities.

5. The legendary MiG-21 fighter aircraft will be retired from Indian skies, concluding an era of 62 years in active service and marking a significant shift in the Air Force’s fleet composition.

6. The Indian Air Force (IAF) will receive a KC-135 aerial refueling aircraft from the United States by October 2025, which will significantly enhance the range and endurance of Indian fighter jets.

7. Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has proposed its air-launched LORA missile for integration on the Indian Navy’s P-8I maritime patrol aircraft, potentially boosting long-range strike capabilities.

8. The Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS), developed indigenously by India’s DRDO in collaboration with Bharat Forge and TATA Advanced Systems, is a 155mm/52 calibre howitzer capable of firing accurately up to approximately 48 kilometres. This extended range means ATAGS can theoretically strike targets such as Lahore from Amritsar, as the distance between these cities is about 50 km.

9. India and Russia are significantly expanding their defence manufacturing partnership by advancing negotiations for joint production of the AK-19 carbine and PPK-20 submachine gun, marking a substantial evolution beyond their successful AK-203 assault rifle collaboration.
