1. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast extremely heavy rainfall over Gujarat, Konkan, Goa and Central Maharashtra during the next three days.

2. A red alert has been issued for Ratnagiri and Satara districts for tomorrow while an orange alert has been sounded for Pune, Raigad, Sindhudurg and Kolhapur districts.

3. The process to file nomination for 2025 Padma Awards, one of the highest civilian honour, is open till 15th September this year. Union Home Ministry said, the nominations and recommendations for Padma Awards will be received online on the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal. The Padma Awards, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, are amongst the highest civilian awards of the country.

4. The Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that six Indian languages Tamil, Sanskrit, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Odia have been accorded the status of Classical Language.

1. The Supreme Court on Monday asked the Director, IIT-Delhi to set up a team of three experts that would go into a particular question of Physics asked in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate 2024 examination and submit a report on the correct answer by Tuesday noon.

2. The Supreme Court stayed the directions issued by the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments which asked the shop owners to display names on Kanwar Yatra route.

3. The Supreme Court on Monday granted bail to Ashish Mishra, the son of former Union minister Ajay Mishra, in connection with the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence that resulted in the deaths of eight people. His movements are now restricted to Delhi or Lucknow.

4. Special People’s Representatives Court, on Monday, granted conditional bail to Janata Dal (Secular) MLC Suraj Revanna, brother of rape-accused and former MP Prajwal Revanna, in a case pertaining to unnatural sex.

5. Rajya Sabha MP V Sivadasan, representing the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Kerala, received a threat call purportedly from the banned organization ‘Sikhs For Justice’. Sivadasan has written to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar expressing concern over the nature of the call and urged for appropriate action.

6. Controversial IAS Officer Puja Khedkar mother Manorama Khedkar, has been remanded to police custody until July 20. The court’s decision comes amidst the escalating legal troubles faced by Puja Khedkar, who is embroiled in a fake certificate controversy.

7. The Delhi high court asked Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy and Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to file a short note on the submissions in the National Herald case.

In the money laundering case related to Delhi’s alleged liquor scam, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Monday once again adjourned the hearing of Bharatiya Rashtriya Samiti (BRS) MLC K Kavitha’s petition for default bail. According to the reports, the Delhi court has now rescheduled the bail plea hearing for 5 August, 2024.

1. INS Brahmaputra, an Indian Navy warship undergoing maintenance at the naval dockyard in Mumbai, caught fire on Sunday, 21 July. According to the Indian Navy, the warship experienced severe listing to the port side. The Indian Navy stated that the fire had broken out onboard the Indian Naval Ship Brahmaputra, a multi-role Frigate, on the evening of July 21 while the ship was undergoing refit. One junior sailor went missing.

2. Airbus and Tata are set to launch India’s first H125 helicopter by 2026, with an initial production capacity of 10 units per year. This venture supports India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
