1. ISRO’s LVM3-M6 will launch the US-based AST SpaceMobile BlueBird Block-2 communication satellite at 8:54 AM IST tomorrow from Satish Dhawan Space Center. The dedicated commercial mission will place the satellite into Low Earth Orbit.
BlueBird Block-2 is the largest commercial communication satellite in LEO and the heaviest payload launched by LVM3 from #India. It will support direct 4G/5G connectivity to standard smartphones, enabling calls.
2. Nation pays tribute to former Prime Minister & Bharat Ratna P. V. Narasimha Rao on his death anniversary.
Pamulaparthi Venkata Narasimha Rao was an Indian independence activist, lawyer, and statesman from the Indian National Congress who served as the prime minister of India from 1991 to 1996. He was the first person from South India and the second person from a non-Hindi speaking background to be prime minister.
3. Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav today emphasized that the Supreme Court’s ruling in Aravalli range matter recognises and endorses the Government’s sustained efforts to protect the range through Aravalli Green Wall Project.
4. Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda stressed that coordinated and synergistic efforts by the Centre and States are essential to enhance influenza preparedness and response across India.
5. The National Commission for Women, NCW has launched SHAKTI Scholars: NCW’s Young Research Fellowship programme, inviting applications from young students and researchers to undertake policy-oriented research on issues affecting women in India. The fellowship aims to encourage multidisciplinary research on key areas such as women’s safety and dignity, gender-based violence, legal rights and access to justice, cyber safety, health and nutrition, economic empowerment and labour participation.
6. Tamil Nadu has launched a dedicated conservation initiative to protect smooth-coated otters in the Cauvery delta. The programme will study otter population, habitat, and human conflict across Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, and Cuddalore districts to restore wetlands and safeguard this vulnerable species.
7. Bharat Taxi, a driver-owned and home-grown mobility platform, is set to roll out in Delhi in January 2026. Operating on a zero-commission model, it aims to offer fair earnings to drivers while challenging Ola and Uber in India’s ride-hailing market.
8. A Christmas event scheduled to be held at a hotel run by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department on the banks of the Ganges in Haridwar has been cancelled following objections from Hindu outfits.

Amid unrest in Bangladesh and its impact on India’s security, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Monday that the time for diplomacy was running out and that a permanent cure for the crisis in the neighbouring country was possible only through “surgery”. Sarma warned that the current situation posed serious risks, especially for India’s Northeast.
10. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is learnt to have decided to convene the Winter Session of the Assembly from December 29, with plans to hold a special debate to highlight how the state’s interests were allegedly compromised in Krishna and Godavari river water sharing during the decade-long previous BRS regime.
11. Several flights and trains experienced disruptions due to dense fog conditions in the National Capital and NCR region.
12. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said, dense fog conditions are expected in most parts of Northern and North-East India till tomorrow. These include Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. The weather agency has further predicted dense to very dense fog over Punjab till the 27th of this month.

LEGAL REPORT

1. A Delhi court reserved its order in a case related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in which former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar is an accused. Special Judge Dig Vinay Singh reserved the order for the 22nd of next month after the final arguments concluded in the case. Sajjan Kumar was produced before the court amid heavy security.
2. The Delhi High Court today asked Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and others to respond to a plea by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the National Herald case. The ED has challenged the 16th of December’s order of the trial court that refused to take cognisance of its chargesheet against them in the case. The high court listed the matter for further hearing on 12th March next year.
3. A Goa court extended by five days the police custody of owners Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra of the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub, where a devastating fire on the 6th of this month resulted in 25 deaths. The siblings had fled to Thailand after the incident and were deported to India on the 17th of December.
4. Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav has clarified that the government has no plans for urbanisation in the Aravalli region and that its sole and exclusive focus is on protecting the range.
5. Former Punjab cadre IPS officer Amar Singh Chahal allegedly shot himself on Monday after being “defrauded” of over Rs 8 crore by online scammers. He was rushed to a private hospital with a critical injury.

A Mumbai-bound Air India wide-body jet was forced to return to Delhi within an hour of take-off on Monday morning after a mid-air engine shutdown, prompting an emergency landing and a regulatory probe. The Boeing 777-300ER, operating flight AI887, had departed from the national capital around 6.30 am with nearly 335 passengers on board.
2. In Assam, an ongoing
protest in the West Karbi Anglong district turned violent yesterday, prompting police to resort to firing to control and disperse demonstrators. Tensions escalated following an arson attack on the residence of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member, Tuliram Ronghang at Dongkamokam.
