1. PM Modi chairs high-level meeting to assess COVID-19 situation; directs officials to strengthen ongoing surveillance measures.

CRIME REPORT

1. National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against 11 people, including two Pakistani nationals, in connection with the murder of Udaipur-based tailor Kanhaiya Lal Teli in June this year.

The assailants circulated the video of the murder on social media to create panic and terror amongst the masses across the country.

2. Five terror associates were arrested after security forces busted a terror module of Hizbul Mujahideen in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

3. A day after Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut compared Karnataka and Maharashtra’s border dispute to China, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai said the state will take legal action against him. Sanjay Raut had said like China, Maharashtra doesn’t need permission to enter Karnataka.

1. Minister for Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal introduced the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2022, to decriminalise minor offences to promote ease of business.

1. Defence Acquisition Council, DAC has approved Acceptance of Necessity for 24 Capital Acquisition Proposals for the Armed Forces and Indian Coast Guard.

These proposals include six for Indian Army, six for Indian Air Force, 10 for Indian Navy and two for Indian Coast Guard for a total value of Rs 84,328 crore.

2. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh approved the construction of a modern multi-speciality Command Hospital in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh for the Armed Forces.

3. The 17th round of India- China Corps Commander Level Meeting was held at Chushul-Moldo border meeting point on the Chinese side on 20 Dec.

4. US Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark A Miley and India’s Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan have discussed ways to increase bilateral cooperation amidst heightened tension between India and China in the border areas. ”
