1. The Andhra Pradesh High Court ruled that textbooks dealing with mathematical equations and science subjects do not come under copyright law, as their content is non-literary in nature.
2. The Calcutta High Court on Monday ordered the cancellation of all appointments made through the recruitment process of the State Level Selection Test-2016 (SLST) in West Bengal government-sponsored and aided schools, declaring it “null and void”.
3. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested retired IAS officer Anil Tuteja on Sunday in connection with an alleged liquor scandal in Chhattisgarh under Section 19 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
4. A Delhi court on Monday directed the All India Institue of Medical Sciences to constitute a medical board to examine Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to determine whether he needs insulin to control his blood sugar levels and said the home-cooked food that the politician was consuming was different from the diet chart prepared by his doctor.
5. The Karnataka BJP unit on Monday expelled former deputy chief minister K S Eshwarappa from the party for six years. The expulsion came after Eshwarappa filed his nomination as an Independent candidate from Shivamogga against sitting BJP MP and party nominee B Y Raghavendra, son of former chief minister B S Yediyurappa. Raghavendra is also the brother of Karnataka BJP unit chief B Y Vijayendra.
6. The Supreme Court has issued notice on the plea filed by the mother of television journalist Soumya Vishwanathan against the Delhi High Court order granting bail to four men serving life imprisonment in the 2008 murder case of her daughter.

1. Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty was conferred with the country’s third-highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan, by President Droupadi Murmu on Monday. Mithun received the prestigious award in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, among others at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi.

1. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday visited Siachen glacier, the world’s highest battlefield, and carried out on-the-ground assessment of the security situation and also interacted with soldiers deployed there. In addition to the Base Camp, Mr. Singh also visited Kumar post located at around 15,600 feet.
2. Exercise Poorvi Lehar (XPOL): It is a maritime exercise conducted by the Indian Navy along the East Coast recently, under the operational direction of the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command.
It aimed at validation of procedures towards assessment of Indian Navy’s preparedness to meet Maritime Security challenges in the region. It witnessed participation of Ships, Submarines, Aircrafts and Special Forces.
3. The Indian Army is progressing two projects worth over Rs 6,800 crore to develop indigenous Very Short Range Air Defence (VSHORAD) systems. These shoulder-fired missile systems are being developed to counter aerial threats along the borders with China and Pakistan.
4. Indian Naval Sailing Vessel Tarini carrying two women officers has returned triumphant to its base port in Goa after undertaking a “historic transoceanic expedition” of nearly two months,
Lt Cdr Dilna K and Lt Cdr Roopa A, women officers of the Indian Navy, undertook the expedition in “double-handed mode”. “Their exceptional journey marks a historic milestone as they become the first from India to accomplish such a feat,” the Navy said in a statement.
5. BrahMos being test-fired from INS CHENNAI stealth destroyerIndia can export $3 billion of the BrahMos missiles by 2026, as more than 12 countries are in keen negotiations at present. BrahMos is the world’s fastest supersonic missile, capable of travelling at almost three times the speed of sound.
