11. Indian Coast Guard organized a coastal cleanup drive along the Marina and Elliots beaches in the city on Saturday, coinciding with the International Coastal Cleanup Day. The Inspector General of the Coast Guard Region (East) Donny Michael flagged off the cleanup drive at the Marina Beach.
Over 900 volunteers and students from schools, colleges, central and state government agencies and non-government organisations participated and collected over 450 kg of plastic and other waste, which was safely disposed of.

1. Centre issues advisory to States and Union Territories to combat tobacco use among youth.

The All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council (AISSC), which claims to represent 600 dargahs in India, in a presentation before the Parliament’s Joint Committee on Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, demanded a “separate” and “independent” dargah board, claiming that the current Waqf Boards are not “streamlined” for their needs.

The Karnataka BJP on Saturday filed a formal police complaint at the High Grounds police station in Bengaluru against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his recent remarks in the US, where he claimed that the fight in India was about whether Sikhs would be allowed to wear a turban, kada, and visit a gurdwara.
6. A woman’s dismembered body was found stored in a refrigerator at a flat in Bengaluru’s Vyalikaval on Saturday.
The police said the woman, 29-year-old Mahalakshmi, wife of Hemant Das, was staying alone in the flat. The police have so far recovered 28 pieces from the 165-litre refrigerator and are yet to confirm whether there are more severed body parts.

1. Famous Malayalam actor Kaviyoor Ponnamma (79) who breathed her last on Friday was laid to rest with full state honours at her residence. Ponnamma, who started her acting career through theatre at the age of 14, acted in over 1,000 films.
2. Dhruvi Patel, a Computer Information System student from the USA, has been declared the winner of Miss India Worldwide 2024, the longest running Indian pageant outside of India. About Miss India Worldwide Miss India Worldwide is a beauty pageant which draws contestants from India and from among members of the Indian diaspora residing in other countries.

1. The Indian Air Force has successfully completed Exercise Eastern Bridge – 7 with the Royal Air Force of Oman in Masirah, Oman. The exercise included a comprehensive series of training missions which featured the participation of MiG-29 and Jaguar aircraft from the Indian Air force and F-16 and Hawk from Royal Air Force of Oman.
2. Only nine days left for Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari, to retire from service, the government announced Saturday the appointment of Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh as the next CAS. He will take over as chief from the afternoon of 30 September, 2024.
3. The second edition of the bi-annual Naval Commanders’ Conference 2024 concluded in New Delhi. This four day conference was focused on contemporary security paradigms, and critical analysis to further enhance the combat capability of the Navy and synergise operations with the other Services. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also attended the bi-annual conference on the third day.
4. Army’s Tiger Prowl Cycling Expedition 2024 from Jammu to Komic, Himachal Pradesh via Yol. An 18-member Army team of Lightning Streaks Regiment of Tiger Division has set out to establish a record of its own, undertaking a cycling expedition to the world’s highest village connected by a motorable road, Komic in Himachal Pradesh situated at an altitude of 15,100 feet.
5. The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to host an immaculate air show in the skies over Tamil Nadu, on 6th October 2024. This year’s event is based on theme “Bhartiya Vayu Sena – Saksham, Sashakt, Atmanirbhar” (Potent, Powerful, and Self-Reliant), highlighting the lAF’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s airspace. On 6th October 2024, the grand display at Marina Beach will be open to all.
6. The Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS), a leading laboratory under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) handed over critical high-altitude sustenance technologies to the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) during an orientation workshop on 21 September 2024, at PGCIL’s regional headquarters in Jammu.
This workshop was organised to prepare employees for high-altitude operations as part of the 5000 MW Pang-Kaithal High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Project in Ladakh.
