1. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast an early arrival of the southwest monsoon in Kerala by May 27, 2025. This marks the earliest onset on the Indian mainland since 2009, when it arrived on May 23.

1. The Tamil Nadu government informed the Madras High Court of having filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking to transfer to the latter a public interest litigation (PIL) petition currently pending before the High Court, challenging the validity of State laws that take away the Governor’s power to appoint Vice-Chancellors.
2. NH-66 collapse in Malappuram: Union Minister for Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has promised probe, he has formed a high-level committee of experts drawn from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) to study the structural defects and allied public safety risk along the stretch of the under-construction National Highway-66 stretch in Malappuram district in Kerala.
