1. The 10th International Day of Yoga has been celebrated across the globe yesterday. The main function was held at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. On the occasion, the Prime Minister addressed the gathering and participated in the Common Yoga Protocol session, highlighting Yoga’s significance in nurturing physical, mental, and spiritual growth.

2. *The government has imposed stock limits on pulses tur, chana including kabuli chana* : As per the order, stock limits applicable for the wholesalers is 200 metric tonnes, five metric tonnes for retailers, five metric tonnes at retail outlet and 200 metric tonnes at depot for big chain retailers. The stock limit will be applicable till 30th September, 2024.

3. Union Home Minister Amit Shah virtually inaugurated 30 Smart Schools run by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation in his Gandhinagar Loksabha constituency at Naranpura in Ahmedabad .

4. Telangana cabinet on Friday approved the farm loan waiver scheme and also decided to appoint a cabinet sub committee to ensure transparent implementation of Rythu Bharosa.

5. The Congress manifesto in the last year Assembly polls had promised waiver of farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh each while increasing the Rythu Bandhu benefit to Rs 15,000 in a year from the present Rs 10,000, besides bringing tenant farmers under the purview of the scheme.

6. Maharashtra seat-sharing talks in NDA: National Democratic Alliance is gearing up for the Maharashtra assembly elections slated to be held in October-November. While there are no signs of cracks in the ruling NDA, there have been talks from partners – Ajit Pawar’s NCP and Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena – for the clarity of seats they would get for the assembly elections.

7. The political drama around the water crisis in Delhi took a new turn on Friday (June 21) after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi sat on an indefinite hunger strike claiming that the Haryana government was not releasing the national capital’s share of water.

8. *First Full Train Crosses Chenab Bridge:* A trial run of the MEMU train (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) on the newly completed Electrified Line Section (Reasi-Sangaldan) with a route length of 46 km on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramula Rail Link (USBRL) project was conducted at 40 kmph. It was completed successfully, beginning at 12:35 p.m. from Sangaldan and ending at 14:05 p.m. in Reasi. It ran through nine tunnels totaling 40.787 km, including the longest tunnel, T-44.

9. Sudhakararao Papa has been appointed as the Director (Enterprise) of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) following a rigorous selection process by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on 15 June 2024.

10. In a bid to enhance road safety, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi, a technical university established by the Government of National Capital Territory (NCT). This collaboration aims to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve the availability and condition of road signs on National Highways, covering approximately 25,000 kilometers.

11. The Indian government has approved the construction of a new major port at Vadhavan in the Dahanu taluka of Palghar district, Maharashtra. This project, aligned with the PM Gatishakti programme, aims to boost India’s foreign trade capabilities and local economy.

12. Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot of Karnataka inaugurated the National Yoga Olympiad 2024 in Mysuru, emphasizing yoga’s integral role in Indian culture and its global significance. More than 400 students and 100 teachers from across the country are participating in this inaugural three-day event.

13. Senior BJP leader Surama Padhy has been unanimously elected as the Speaker of the Odisha Assembly, becoming only the second woman to hold this prestigious position.

14. In Telangana, Parige (Pocharam) Srinivas Reddy, senior leader in the BRS, former speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly, and the MLA from Banswada, on Friday joined the Congress.

15. In Andhra pradesh Senior IPS officer Dwaraka Tirumala Rao has assumed charge as the Director General of Police at the state police headquarters in Mangalagiri on Friday.

16. The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Kerala, coastal and south interior Karnataka, Konkan-Goa in the next 5 days.

1. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh participated in a yoga program with Indian Sewa Jawans at Strike Core One in Mathura. He did yoga with Golf Ground Military officers and soldiers.

2. Lt General Upendra Dwivedi will assume role of Chief of Army Staff on June 30. Lieutenant General Raja Subramani to be appointed as Vice Chief of Army Staff.

3. Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth reviewed the security measures at the Indian water borders. After the yoga programme at Arichalmunai, Rameswaram, the Minister travelled by a hovercraft to the Indian borders. He also visited the Mandapam Camp at Rameswaram and held a discussion with the authorities.

4. Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) has secured defence orders worth ₹3,000 crore. These orders were part of the larger defence contracts signed by the Indian Ministry of Defence, totalling ₹39,125 crore, its chairman A.M. Naik said.

5. India and Qatar on Friday held discussions on the proposal to buy 12 second-hand Qatari Mirage-2000-5 fighter jets. A presentation was made to Indian officials on the current state of the 12 Mirage-2000 aircraft with them. The Qatari side is offering around ₹5,000 crore for the 12 aircraft but the Indian side is keen to get the aircraft at a reasonable price.
