9. Recently, the Government of India revamped its coaching scheme aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. 10. The Government of Kerala has launched Nayanamritham 2.0. This initiative is the world’s first government-led programme for AI-assisted chronic eye disease screening. It follows the success of Nayanamritham 1.0. The programme aims to enhance early detection and improve accessibility to quality eye care throughout the state.

11. India has launched a comprehensive campaign to combat non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The initiative targets individuals aged 30 and above. It aims to screen for conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and specific cancers.

The campaign runs from February 20 to March 31. The goal is to achieve 100% screening coverage in the vulnerable population.

1. The Supreme Court on Friday sought response of Maharashtra and Assam governments on a plea of YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani seeking to quash or transfer to Mumbai a first information report (FIR) registered in Guwahati in connection with a case of allegedly promoting obscenity in an online show.

Several FIRs were lodged against Ranveer Allahbadia , popularly known as BeerBiceps, for the comment on parents and sex on comic Samay Raina’s YouTube show ‘India’s Got Latent’.

2. Maharashtra Cyber Department has confirmed that a second summons will be issued to YouTuber Samay Raina in connection with remarks made on ‘India’s Got Latent’ that have triggered controversy. This move comes after Raina failed to appear for a scheduled statement recording session on February 18.

3. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday attached the assets worth more than ₹10 crore of S Shankar, the director of Rajnikant and Aishwarya Rai starrer ‘Enthiran’ (Robot).

The action was taken on charges of plagiarism and copyright violations nder the anti-money laundering law.

A Delhi court on Friday reserved its order on the quantum of sentence in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case involving former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar, who was convicted of the murder of Jaswant Singh and Tarundeep Singh in Delhi’s Saraswati Vihar on November 1, 1984. The court has scheduled February 25 as the date for sentencing.

5. In Punjab, Farmer bodies held a show of strength on Friday to mark the death anniversary of farm activist Shubhkaran Singh, who had died of a bullet wound when Punjab farmers’ march to Delhi was halted by the Haryana Police at the inter-state border of Khanauri on February 21 last year.

1. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has launched a new payment mechanism called Bima-ASBA. This initiative aims to simplify premium payments for life and health insurance policies.

2. The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) has recently launched a ₹500-crore Technology Adoption Fund (TAF). This initiative aims to support space technology firms, particularly startups and MSMEs, in creating commercially viable products.

3. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has imposed a penalty of Rs 3.44 crore on BBC World Service India for alleged contravention of foreign direct investment (FDI) regulations.

A 100% FDI company, BBC India failed to cut FDI to 26% in violation of regulations. The ED also fined company’s three directors Rs 1.14 cr each for their role in overseeing ops.

4. The RBI on Friday proposed to do away with foreclosure charges or pre-payment penalties charged by banks and other lenders on all floating rate loans, including for business purposes, availed by individuals as well as micro and small enterprises (MSEs). The draft norms stated that lenders shall permit foreclosure/ pre-payment of all floating rate loans sanctioned for purposes other than business to individuals, with or without co-obligant(s).

Vicky Kaushal’s latest historical drama Chhaava has made waves at the box office, surpassing Uri: The Surgical Strike to become the actor’s highest-grossing film to date. The film, which had a strong opening week, has now crossed the Rs 242.25 crore mark.

2. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that Japan has been a key ally in India’s economic growth and is the 5th largest source of foreign investment. Addressing the India-Japan Economy and Investment Forum in New Delhi, Mr. Goyal said that Foreign Direct Investment from Japan has exceeded 43 billion dollars between 2000 and 2024.

3. India assumed the Chairmanship of the Bay of Bengal Inter-Governmental Organisation (BOBP-IGO) from Bangladesh at the 13th Governing Council Meeting in Malé, Maldives.
