1. The Govt of India is holding a week-long commemoration titled Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate from 22nd to 28th February simultaneously in 75 locations across the country. The week-long event would display the country’s scientific legacy and technology prowess that has helped find solutions to defence, space, health, agriculture, astronomy, and other sectors.
2. Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has granted Emergency Use Authorisation to COVID-19 vaccine Corbevax for children between 12-18 years of age group. The vaccine has been developed by Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical company Biological E Ltd which country’s first indigenously developed Receptor Binding Domain protein sub-unit COVID-19 vaccine.

4. ANDHRA PRADESH Industries Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy passed away in a private hospital in Hyderabad in Telangana on 21 Feb. He was 50 years. CM Reddy, was a two-time MLA from the Atmakur Assembly constituency in the Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh.
5. ASSAM:President Ram Nath Kovind will undertake a 3-day visit to Assam from 25th of this month. He will inaugurate the year-long celebration to mark the 400th birth anniversary of the great Ahom general Lachit Borphukan.

BIHAR : A special CBI court in Ranchi sentenced Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad for five years’ imprisonment in the case of illegal withdrawal of over 139 crore rupees from Doranda treasury in the final and last case related to the fodder scam. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs.60 lakh.

The court directed that the convict be hanged till death for the murder of the couple — Ummer (26) and Fathima (19) of Purinjiyilvayal in Vellamunda — on July 6, 2018. Robbery was the motive behind the double murder, the prosecution said.

14. Shakuntala Choudhary, the 102-year-old Gandhian social worker and freedom fighter, passed away this morning in Guwahati. Hailing from Assam’s Kamrup, she worked for the wellbeing of villagers, especially women and children, and was popularly known as Shakuntala Baideo. She was named a Padma Shri award recipient by the Government of India, this year.
