1. The Parliament has given its nod to the statutory resolution regarding the extension of President’s rule in Manipur for a further period of six month with effect from the 13th of this month.

2. Both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned till 2 PM following opposition parties’ uproar over the issue of Special Intensive Revision exercise conducted in Bihar. Opposition parties were demanding discussion on the SIR issue among others.

3. The Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the government has taken several measures to increase the income of farmers in the last eleven years. Replying to supplementaries during Question Hour in the Lok Sabha.

4. Indian Railways has launched Kavach 4.0 on the Mathura-Kota section of the Delhi-Mumbai corridor. Designed at the highest safety level (SIL 4), it monitors train speeds, applies brakes automatically, and provides cabin-based signal information.

5. The Western Railway has resumed operations of its 9.5 km metre-gauge heritage train on the iconic Patalpani–Kalakund line in Madhya Pradesh. Services had been briefly suspended earlier due to a decline in tourist footfall. With its rich history and breathtaking scenic views, the train remains a major attraction for heritage tourism enthusiasts.

6. The Bihar state government has approved implementation of the domicile policy for the Fourth phase of the Teacher Recruitment Exam (TRE-4) to be held this year. This decision was approved in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

7. The Maharashtra cabinet has approved the construction of a 105-km express freight corridor connecting the upcoming Vadhavan port in Palghar to the Samruddhi Expressway at Bharvir in Nashik district.

8. Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij said that the bus tracking system will be implemented across the state by August 15. An accompanying app will allow passengers to view real-time arrival times of buses.

9. In Punjab, incidents of paddy stubble burning have significantly reduced by 85 per cent in the year 2024 compared to 2021. This sharp decline has been gradually achieved due to a combination of stricter enforcement, access to machinery for crop residue management and some new policy interventions. The number of stubble burning cases recorded in Punjab in 2021 was 71,304,which has been reduced to 10,909 cases in the year 2024.

10. The last rites of former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and Rajya Sabha MP, Shibu Soren, were performed with full state honours at his native village in Nemra in Ramgarh district of Jharkhand.

11. President Smt. Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed grief over the demise of former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik. The 79-year old leader passed away in New Delhi yesterday after a prolonged illness. He also served as the Governor of Goa and the Governor of Meghalaya.

12. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy monsoon rains in Telangana, including Hyderabad, over the next three days (August 5-7), raising concerns over possible disruptions, including school closures.

1. Recent judicial scrutiny in India has focused on the legality and procedures of Arya Samaj marriages. Courts in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have raised concerns about fake Arya Samaj societies solemnising marriages without proper age verification and violating anti-conversion laws. The Allahabad High Court has directed investigations into these practices amid allegations of unlawful conversions and child marriages. This has brought renewed attention to the Arya Marriage Validation Act of 1937 and its interaction with modern laws such as the UP Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021.

2. special court on Monday accepted the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) closure report in a graft case against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain in awarding a tender to a private company during his tenure as the Public Works Department Minister, noting that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe “found no illegal gains or wrongful loss to the government”, thus proving there was no conspiracy or corruption.

A devastating flash flood in Uttarakhand, triggered by a cloudburst in the upper catchment area of the Kheer Ganga river, caused large-scale destruction in Dharali village in Uttarkashi district.

Relief and rescue operations are being carried out on war-footing with the help of the Army, SDRF, NDRF, district administration, and other concerned teams.

2. In Himachal Pradesh, heavy rainfall has disrupted normal life in several parts of the state. Rain-related incidents have so far claimed 194 lives, while 36 people are still reported missing.

1. The Defence Acquisition Council under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh approved various proposals amounting 67 thousand crore rupees. Procurement of these equipment for the Army, Air Force and the Navy will enhance the capabilities of the three services.

2. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan has emphasised the need to adopt disruptive technologies, rethink legacy structures, and prioritise synergy among the three services to address security challenges. He made these remarks while addressing the inaugural edition of the Annual Trident Lecture Series, organised by the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies in New Delhi.

3. IAF Dismisses Reports of Interest in South Korea’s KF-21 Fighter: The Indian Air Force denies any reports of interest in South Korea’s KF-21, stating it is not considering the 4.5-generation fighter, nor has it been offered for evaluation.

4. BrahMos Aerospace to establish an 800-acre advanced missile manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh, which will produce new variants, including hypersonic missiles, for Indian armed forces and for export.
