Centre to buy 2 lakh metric tonnes onion at Rs 2,410 per quintal
The Centre has announced plans to purchase two lakh metric tonnes of onions in Maharashtra to provide relief to producers. The government will buy the onions at a rate of Rs 2,410 per quintal and set up special procurement centres in Nashik and Ahmednagar. This decision comes after protests by farmers and traders against the export duty imposed on onions to control prices and increase supplies in the domestic market.

1. Kerala police on Monday launched a full-fledged investigation into the alleged impersonation and cheating by two persons from Haryana in a test conducted by ISRO for recruiting technical staff for the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC).
2. Delhi Police has arrested two persons in the case of allegedly raping a minor girl. The arrested are a Delhi government official and his wife. According to the police, the accused posted as Deputy Director in the Women and Child Development Department, allegedly assaulted the girl, who was staying with his family after her father died in 2020.

1. The 27th edition of the multilateral naval exercise Malabar 2023 concluded yesterday in Sydney, Australia.
The exercise saw the participation of Ships, Submarines, and aircraft from the Indian Navy, Royal Australian Navy, Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force, and the US Navy.
2. The Indian Armed Forces are currently undergoing a transformation under the newly created Department of Military Affairs (DMA), led by the Chief of Defence Staff, Anil Chauhan.
The transformation includes the creation of integrated theatre commands, a change in the Indian Army’s orientation from the western borders opposite Pakistan to the northern and northeastern borders opposite China, modernisation with the induction of new disruptive niche technologies, the new Agnipath scheme, and the deteriorating situation in Manipur.
