1. Eleventh International Day of Yoga to be celebrated across the globe today. The theme for this year’s International Day of Yoga is “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, which significantly resonates with the unifying vision that India based its G20 presidency on — “One Earth, One Family, One Future”.
2. The Yoga Day event will be held along a 26-km corridor from RK Beach in Visakhapatnam to Bhogapuram, where over 3 lakh people can perform Yoga simultaneously.

In a prelude to the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations, a remarkable Surya Namaskar programme was organized at Andhra University in Visakhapatnam, where, around 25,000 tribal children performed 108 Surya Namaskars in 108 minutes. The unique initiative aimed to set a Guinness World Record and also highlighted the enthusiastic participation of tribal communities.

To enhance the efficiency of voter services, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) aimed at delivering Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) within 15 days of electoral roll updates. This initiative, backed by a robust IT system and SMS alerts.
8. In Sikkim, the annual Kailash Mansarovar Yatra has begun from Nathula. Governor Om Prakash Mathur flagged off the first batch of 36 pilgrims to enter into the Tibet Autonomous region.
9. Monsoon advances across Gujarat; 15 dams on high alert : South West Monsoon has advanced further in Gujarat, covering most of the state. Heavy rains lashed several parts of the state, especially South Gujarat and the Saurashtra region.
10. NASA and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) are set to launch the $1.5 billion NISAR (NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar) Earth observation satellite from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, India, in July 2025.
11. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated heavy rainfall in several areas of Northwest India for next few days. Heavy to very heavy rainfall will also occur at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, East Madhya Pradesh and East Uttar Pradesh. Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi will also witness heavy rainfall.

1. The Supreme Court on Friday stayed a Madras High Court direction ordering the demolition of a temple constructed on land designated as Open Space Reservation (OSR) within the premises of Visthara Residency, an apartment complex in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
2. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police on Wednesday arrested Purushottam Chavan, husband of an IPS officer, for allegedly duping a Surat-based businessman and others of Rs 7.42 crore.
3. The Supreme Court declined to entertain a petition challenging the condition imposed by the Commissioner of Police, Madurai City, requiring vehicle passes to be obtained 24 hours in advance from the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) for the upcoming Lord Murugan Conference (Muruga Bakthargal Aanmeega Maanadu) scheduled on 22 June 2025, in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
4. BSF troops in Punjab today recovered over seven kilograms of ICE (Methamphetamine) from an agricultural field near a village in Amritsar. Sources have claimed that this is the largest consignment of ICE, a synthetic drug, recovered in Punjab in the recent past.
5. A female Naxalite has been killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh yesterday. The encounter took place in the forests of Amatola and the Kalpar area of Kanker district.

The newly repaired bridge over the Harang River on the Silchar–Kalain Road collapsed in the early hours of Wednesday when two overloaded trucks were passing through it, violating weight restrictions.
Though there were no casualties, the incident disrupted road connectivity between Assam’s Barak Valley and neighbouring states — Tripura, Mizoram, and Manipur — via Meghalaya.

1. INS Teg, on her Operational Deployment to the South West Indian Ocean Region, is visiting Port Louis, Mauritius from 19-22 Jun 2025. The ship would be undertaking joint surveillance of Mauritian EEZ along with the Mauritius National Coast Guard (NCG) ships and aircraft, reaffirming India’s commitment towards ensuring safety of the global commons and to combat Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (lUU) fishing.
