600 trains affected by bharat bandh

14. *UTTAR PRADESH* : The Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi started making COVID-19 announcements in Sanskrit language. The initiative has been started by Airpports Authority of India (AAI) together with Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

15. *TELANGANA* : the proposal by the state govt seeking about 40 acres of land in the Army Ordnance Corps area in Secunderabad for road development, the defence ministry has demanded money for land as compensation. It has asked for Rs 442 crore to part with the land.

16. Captain Monica Khanna piloted the SpiceJet Patna-Delhi flight that made an emergency landing after a bird hit caused sparks in its engine. She’s an Emirates Aviation University alumna who joined SpiceJet in 2018 and has also worked for Jet Airways. Khanna and First Officer Balpreet Singh Bhatia were praised for remaining calm and landing the 185-passenger flight on one engine.

1. Chairman of Mahindra Group Anand Mahindra has said that the discipline and skills Agniveers will gain in the Agneepath Scheme will make them eminently employable.

2. Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran on Monday supported the Centre’s ‘Agnipath’ scheme and said it’ll “make available a very disciplined and trained youth for the industry”. “We at the Tata group recognise the potential of the ‘Agniveers’ and welcome the opportunity this represents.

3. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued a clarification saying that non-bank prepaid payment instruments (PPIs) such as wallets and prepaid cards, cannot load credit lines into these instruments. “Such practice, if followed, should be stopped immediately,” the RBI said in a notification.

4. IDBI Bank has put properties of the Great Indian Tamasha Company (GITC) on sale for non-payment of dues on loans it took from three banks. The immovable properties, which will be sold through e-auction next month, are located in Karnataka’s Kodagu. GITC owes ₹86.48 crore to IDBI Bank, ₹6.26 crore to HDFC Bank and ₹49.23 crore to Bank of Baroda.

1. Former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has praised the trailer of the Taapsee Pannu-starrer ‘Shabaash Mithu’. The film is the biopic of former Indian women’s cricket captain Mithali Raj.

2. Adani Wilmar has reduced the maximum retail price (MRP) of Fortune refined Sunflower oil’s 1-litre pack to Rs 210 from Rs 220. The MRP of Fortune Soyabean and Fortune Kachi Ghani (mustard oil) 1-litre packs has been reduced to Rs 195 from Rs 205, the company said in a statement on Saturday.

DEFENCE:

1. The Indian Army issued notification for the recruitment for Agniveers under the newly launched Agnipath scheme. The registrations will be opened from July onwards by the respective Army Recruitment Offices (ARO) for various trades. Registrations can be done through Indian Army’s website joinindianarmy.nic.in

2. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways will work with the Indian Navy to train and equip the Agniveers and facilitate an alternate career in the merchant navy after four years stint with the Navy.
