13. Bengaluru’s Namma Metro Yellow Line Launch Postponed To July: Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) has cited a delay in the delivery of metro coaches that are to arrive from China. The China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) factory in China obtained a ₹1,578-crore contract in 2019 to deliver 216 metro coaches to the BMRCL.

1. Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials on Saturday reached Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s residence in Ranchi to question him in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam.

2. Madhya Pradesh Congress’s disciplinary committee has issued show-cause notices to nearly 150 local leaders who allegedly indulged in “anti-party” activities during the November 2023 state assembly polls, where the opposition outfit faced severe drubbing, a functionary said.

3. The government on Saturday issued an advisory to media outlets and social media platforms cautioning them against publishing any false or manipulated content related to the 22 January Ram temple event in Ayodhya, which can disturb communal harmony and public order.

4. Three Naxals including two women cadres were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Saturday morning.

5. Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (UP ATS), on Friday, arrested three persons, allegedly linked to banned outfit Sikhs for Justice. Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), is led by Gurpatwant Singh Pannun,

The trio were reportedly planning to raise the flag of SFJ and raise slogans demanding separate land for Sikhs in Punjab during the consecration ceremony.The ATS claimed they were inspired by recent incidents, including the Parliament security breach in Delhi.

6. Suspended Assam Civil Service officer has been arrested in connection with an alleged Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) financial scam in Silchar. The officer, Sukanya Borah, was suspended last year for her alleged involvement in irregularities in projects funded by the MPLAD.

7. An AK-47 assault rifle, two magazines and 40 cartridges were seized by the Border Security Force, BSF from a field near the India-Pakistan border in Punjab’s Ferozepur district.

8. 38 individuals surrendered their air guns as a part of the ‘Air-gun surrender Abhiyan’ programme organized at Tezu in Lohit District, Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday.

9. Ahead of the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, activists from a right-wing organisation, Hindu Sena, on Saturday, defaced signboards of central Delhi’s Babar Road by putting the stickers of ‘Ayodhya Marg’.

10. Restrictions under CrPC Section 144 will be implemented in Noida and Greater Noida, announced the Gautam Buddh Nagar police on Saturday. These measures will be in effect from January 21 to 26, in light of the consecration ceremony at the Lord Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22 and the Republic Day celebrations on January 26.

3. Delhi Police on Saturday said it has arrested a man in connection with a deepfake video of actor Rashmika Mandanna that was widely circulated on social media. On November 10, an FIR was registered under Indian Penal Code sections 465 (punishment for forgery) and 469 (forgery for purpose of harming reputation) and sections 66C and 66E of the Information Technology Act at the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) Unit of the Delhi Police’s Special Cell.

1. Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said the government will stop the free movement of people at the Myanmar border and will protect it like that of Bangladesh. Addressing the passing out parade of the first batch of the five newly-constituted Assam Police Commando battalions.

2. 🇪🇹Ethiopia has confirmed the addition of two Russian Su-30K first-generation fighter jets to its Air Force [ETAF].

Two Su-30Ks (2401 and 2402) were seen during the induction ceremony. It is believed that these are part of a batch of 18 (ten Su-30MK and eight Su-30K fighters) manufactured for the Indian Air Force and delivered between 1997 and 1999. These were subsequently returned to Russia in 2007 and replaced by more modern Su-30MKI models.

3. The Indian Coast Guard carried out a medical evacuation of an Indonesian crew member suffering from stomach pain and high fever from a foreign vessel off Diu Coast on Friday.The mariner was rescued from an Iranian-flagged vessel MV Wave 47 N miles South-West of Diu.

4. IAF Marching Contingent, a tri-services contingent of Agniveervayu (Women) would be participating in Republic Day Parade 2024. A total of 48 Agniveervayu Women would be part of this contingent. Flight Lieutenant Shrishti Verma would be marching as supernumerary Officer of the contingent.

5. 51 Indian Air Force aircraft including Rafale, Sukhoi, Jaguar and Tejas to participate in Republic Day flypast.

The theme of the IAF tableau is ‘Bharatiya Vayu Sena: Saksham, Sashakt, Atmanirbhar (Indian Air Force: Potent, Powerful and Self-Reliant)’. Flight Lieutenant Ananya Sharma and Flying Officer Asma Sheikh, both Su-30 pilots, would be present on the tableau.

6. In a first, Army couple set to march down Kartavya Path in Republic Day parade.
The couple, who got married in June 2023, Major Jerry Blaize and Captain Supreetha C T are all set to become the first couple to march down the Kartavya Path as members of two different contingents in the Republic Day parade on January 26.

The Central Information Commission has directed the Defence Ministry to revisit its decision to withhold records pertaining to the Agnipath military recruitment scheme under the Right to Information Act and provide the revised information/reply as per applicable exemption of the RTI Act.In reply to an RTI application, submitted by activist Vihar Durve, seeking comprehensive information.
