Civil Services Day

1. 400th Prakash Guruparab Utsav of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji to begin at Red Fort. PM Modi will participate in the event today and will address the gathering. He will also release a commemorative coin and postage stamp on the occasion.

2. National Apprenticeship Mela-2022 will be organised across the country in more than over 700 locations today.

3. PM Modi will confer Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2021 on Civil Services Day today. The awards has been instituted with a view to recognize the extraordinary and innovative work done by districts and organizations of the Central and State governments for the welfare of the people.

4. Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said that India has the potential to achieve one trillion dollar merchandise and services exports each by 2030. Addressing the ‘21st Civil Services Day – 2022, Plenary Session on Aatmanirbhar Bharat – Focus on Exports’ in New Delhi.

5. *ASSAM* and Arunachal Pradesh decided to form 12 District-Level Committees in both the states to resolve border disputes. This decision was taken during the second Chief Ministers Level Meeting held in Guwahati on 20 Apr.

6. *DELHI* : The Supreme Court ordered a status quo on the demolition drive in the north Delhi’s Jahangirpuri. The North Delhi Municipal Corporation conducted an anti-encroachment drive in Jahangirpuri area.

7. *GUJARAT* : PM Modi inaugurates development projects worth Rs 22,000 crore at Adijati Maha Sammelan in Dahod, Gujarat on 20 Apr. This includes the manufacturing project of 9,000 HP Electric Locomotives at the Railway Production Unit in Dahod.

8. *J&K* : Two persons were killed in the Uddak area of Ramnagar in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district after a bus skidded off the road on Wednesday.

9. *MADHYA PRADESH* : At least four girls studying at a residential school run by religious leader Sadhvi Ritambhara drowned in a canal in Omkareshwar area of Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh. Police said that the incident took place when the girls went to take a bath along with other classmates in the morning. Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan condoled the death of the girls.

10. *MAHARASHTRA* : PUNE At least 12 shops were gutted in a fire that broke out at Kharadi on Wednesday. The blaze erupted in Ubale Nagar locality around 9.30 am and soon engulfed nearby shops.

11. Amid a row over the use of loudspeakers near mosques, the Jamiat-Ulama-i-Hind unit in Maharashtra has appealed to all mosques to take permission from the state government in this regard.

12. *PUNJAB* Police has summoned Congress leader Alka Lamba in connection with her alleged derogatory statements against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal before the Punjab state elections. After she received the summons, Lamba tweeted, saying she was not afraid of threats from AAP government in Punjab. This comes after former AAP leader Kumar Vishwas was booked by Punjab Police.

13. *TELANGANA* : US-based Biliti Electric will invest $150 million to set up the world’s largest electric three-wheeler production facility in Telangana.

14. *WEST BENGAL* : Adani Group Chairman and Founder Gautam Adani has announced that the company will invest around ₹10,000 crore in West Bengal in the next few years to create 25,000 jobs.

15. *New Appointment* : Well-known physicist Ajay Kumar Sood was appointed as the Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) to the government.

1. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said, reforms undertaken by India before and after the pandemic will ensure it remains one of the fastest-growing economies in the world in the decade ending 2030.

2. Nissan is discontinuing Datsun brand in India, the company said on Wednesday. India was one of the last markets where Datsun was still operational after its global relaunch failed and it was discontinued in Russia and Indonesia in 2020.

1. Gangubai Kathiawadi Seals OTT Release Date:
Gangubai will be premiering on Netflix on the 26th of April. Apart from the Hindi version, the Telugu version will also be premiering on Netflix on the same day

2. Telugu filmmaker Tatineni Rama Rao passed away on Wednesday at the age of 84 at a private hospital in Chennai. The veteran filmmaker directed over 65 films in Telugu and Hindi. He made his directorial debut in 1966 with the film ‘Navarathri’. Actors Ajay Devgn and Anupam Kher condoled Rao’s death

DEFENCE:

1. Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral R. Hari Kumar paid a three-day visit to Maldives which concluded on 20 Apr. During the visit, the Admiral called on Maldives President Mr Ibrahim Mohamad Solih and Maldives Defence Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi.

2. During the period of pandemic, both countries have worked very closely, under Mission SAGAR and Operation Samudra Setu, towards resource mobilisation and movement of personnel.

3. The sixth and the last of the Scorpene-class submarines of Project-75, INS Vagsheer, was launched in Mumbai. The submarine has been built by Mumbai-based Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited – MDL under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

4. Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar has been appointed as the next Director General of Military Operations (DGMO). He will be taking over the new office on May 1.
