1. Ayodhya celebrates magnificent Deepotsav by lighting over 26 lakh earthen lamps on the banks of River Saryu, sets a new Guinness World Record.

2. Uttar Pradesh achieved the Guinness World Record by lighting 26 lakh 17 thousand 215 earthen lamps on the 9th Deepotsav yesterday. The lamps were lit on 56 ghats of Saryu river, including the Ram Ki Paidi.

3. The Centre approves advance release of second installment of nearly two thousand crore rupees of SDRF fund as assistance to rain and flood affected Karnataka and Maharashtra.

4. Nagaland has recently put forward Dzükou Valley as its official entry under the national programme to develop 50 tourist destinations of global standards. This proposal was presented by Temjen Imna Along, the state’s Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, at the National Conference of State Tourism Ministers held in Udaipur.

5. The Centre has launched the ₹600 crore Kapas Kranti Mission to boost long-staple cotton cultivation using High-Density Plantation (HDP) techniques, digital tools like the Kapas Kisan App, and farmer training.

6. UIDAI has launched a mascot design contest inviting creative individuals to design a mascot for Aadhaar, with a prize of up to ₹1 lakh and a certificate. Hosted on the MyGov portal, the contest is open until 31st October 2025.

7. Rashtriya Janata Dal women’s wing state president Ritu Jaiswal on Sunday announced that she will be contesting the Parihar assembly seat in Bihar as an Independent candidate in protest against the party giving a ticket to her detractor.

8. The 11th India International Science Festival (IISF 2025) will be held in Chandigarh from 6–9 December, with the theme “Vigyan se Samruddhi: For Atma Nirbhar Bharat”.

9. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched a new innovation initiative – the Scheme for Innovation and Technology Association with Aadhaar (SITAA) – to strengthen India’s digital identity ecosystem and combat emerging security threats such as deepfakes, spoofing, and presentation attacks. Applications for the program are open until November 15.

10. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch his campaign for the Bihar assembly polls this week, with as many as four election rallies scheduled by the end of this month, state BJP president Dilip Jaiswal said on Sunday.

11. The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has taken steps to enhance agricultural support and farmer welfare in 2025. The state government decided to procure millets like Kodo and Kutki directly from farmers in key producing districts. This move aims to strengthen millet cultivation and ensure better income for farmers.

12. The Election Commission has asked the central observers to closely monitor the entire election process in Bihar and by-elections in 8 Assembly Constituencies in other states to ensure a transparent, free and fair conduct of elections. The eight assembly constituencies going for by-elections are in Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Telangana, Punjab, Mizoram and in Odisha.

13. The State Level Kala Utsav 2025 organised by the Department of Education (School), Government of Manipur concluded today with a colourful closing function held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Dance Academy in Imphal.

National Kala Utsav 2025 will be held in Pune in the next month where the winners of State Level Kala Utsav will represent Manipur. Students from different districts of Manipur participated in the Utsav showcasing their artistic brilliance.

14. AYUSH Ministry has urged citizens, especially the elderly and post-menopausal women, to adopt Ayurvedic preventive measures, balanced nutrition, and gentle physical activity to prevent osteoporosis. On the eve of World Osteoporosis Day.

18. The Ministry of Home Affairs has invited Ladakh groups for talks on October 22, the first formal interaction between the government and leaders of the cold desert since the September 24 protests in which four persons were killed and nearly 100 injured.

In a major setback to the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the nomination of Seema Singh, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) candidate from Madhaura, has been rejected ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections. The returning officer cancelled her nomination due to discrepancies in her documents.

Seema Singh is a renowned Bhojpuri film actress who joined LJP (RV) and entered the fray. She is one of the key candidates from Chirag Paswan’s party.

2. The National Investigation Agency has filed a chargesheet against a Bihar resident, Akhalatur alias Mohammed Akhlaque Mujahid, for aiding Pakistan-based terrorist organisations such as Lashkar-e-Taiba.

3. The Telangana High Court has ruled that the cancellation of 17 sale deeds related to 45.37 acres of land in Bahadurpally village of Shamshabad mandal, Ranga Reddy district, is invalid.

4. The Congress on Sunday suspended Thiruvananthapuram District Congress Committee general secretary Jose Franklin following allegations related to the suicide of a 50-year-old woman.

5. Banned Chinese firecrackers, worth about Rs 5 crore, concealed in a container that arrived in a cargo vessel at the Tuticorin port was seized by authorities and four men have been arrested in this connection.

6. Hindu outfits protested on Sunday after a video showing Muslim women offering namaaz at the historical Shaniwar Wada in Maharashtra’s Pune city went viral on social media.

2. A 19-year-old white tiger Named ‘Sameer’, died at Sri Venkateshwara (SV) Zoological Park (Tirupati Zoo) on Sunday due to age-related ailments. The big cat was transferred to from Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad in 2011 when he was five years old.

1. The TEJAS MK-2 is set to introduce an Auxiliary Mission Computer (AC) designed to work in concert with the Digital Flight Control Computer (DFCC) and Mission Management and Display Computer (MMDC).This three-tiered computing architecture brings enhanced redundancy, resilience, and mission flexibility, aligning with fourth-plus generation combat avionics standards.

2. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the BrahMos missile as a symbol of Atmanirbharta (self-reliance) that meets India’s defence needs. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for choosing Lucknow as a centre for BrahMos missile production, marking the city’s participation in the national drive for defence self-sufficiency.

3. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has achieved a major milestone with the successful test-firing of the indigenous NAG MK-2 Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) from the Zorawar light tank. Conducted on 17 October 2025, the test marked a defining moment in India’s efforts to enhance its light armour capabilities through indigenous innovation and advanced weapon integration.​

4. India’s defence manufacturing capabilities have achieved a major milestone with the development of the Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS), a truly indigenous 155mm, 52-calibre artillery platform.Designed jointly by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and private industry partners such as Bharat Forge and TATA Advanced Systems.

5. PTC Industries has achieved a major milestone with the receipt of a Letter of Technical Acceptance (LoTA) from the DRDO’s Centre for Military Airworthiness & Certification (CEMILAC) for indigenous development and production of Oil Tank Assembly Titanium Castings for the Kaveri Derivative Engine (KDE-2) program.

6. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Friday asserted that the ongoing military action, dubbed Operation Sindoor 1.0, has not ceased, stating that although firing has paused temporarily, the operation will continue until its objectives are achieved. He further confirmed that the Indian Army is actively preparing for a potential Operation Sindoor 2.0.

7. In a solemn and impressive ceremonial parade held at the Naval Base, Visakhapatnam, Rear Admiral Alok Ananda, YSM, assumed charge as the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet (FOCEF) from Rear Admiral Susheel Menon, VSM. The change of command marks a significant leadership transition within the prestigious Eastern Fleet — the Sword Arm of the Indian Navy.

8. Lt Gen CG Muralidharan has assumed charge as the Director General of Medical Services (Army), succeeding Lt Gen Sadhna S Nair, AVSM, VSM, who retired on 30 September 2025 after over four decades of dedicated service to the nation.
