PM flags off first train of Delhi-Meerut RRTS service
The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor, which once fully completed, will reduce travel time between Delhi and Meerut to a little less than an hour

2. PM Modi will inaugurate India’s first Regional Rail, RAPIDX from Sahibabad, Uttar Pradesh today, October 20.
The RRTS Corridor, known as ‘RAPIDX’, is being built by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) in collaboration with the governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. It aims to provide a semi-high-speed regional rail service.

13. In Maharashtra, Manoj Jarange Patil, the activist advocating for Maratha quota, alleged that Other Backward Classes (OBC) are receiving ‘excessive benefits’ from the reservation system. He added that the Maratha community in the State should receive the quota benefits as originally recommended by the Mandal Commission for the backward classes.
14. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today said his party would get a caste census conducted in Telangana if voted to power in the November 30 Assembly elections.
15. Tamilnadu, spiritual leader Bangaru Adigal passed away at Chengalpattu today. He was 82. He was the founder of Adhi Parasakthi Siddhar Peedam. He was awarded Padmashri in 2019. He has followers in more than 15 countries.

1. Indian Navy’s state-of-the-art Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) reached the Sri Lanka Air Force base at Katunayake.
2. The Indian Air Force (IAF) is working to upgrade its fleet of Sukohi-30 MKI fighters with indigenous weapon systems and radar named Virupaaksha.
3. Amid the government’s push towards indigenisation in the military, the Indian Air Force (IAF) will equip its made-in-India Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mark 1A fighter jets with ‘Uttam’ radar and ‘Angad’ electronic warfare suite, replacing the imported systems installed earlier.
The IAF has already commissioned 83 LCA Mark 1A fighter jets, with plans to order an additional 97 in the near future.
