42nd Edition of India International Trade Fair

1. The 42nd Edition of the India International Trade Fair going on at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi opened for the public from Sunday. The fair will remain open for all till the 27th of November. This year, the theme of the fair is based on Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which emphasizes on the significance of interconnectedness and cooperation in trade.

Representatives of 13 countries are also displaying their products in the fair. Our correspondent reports that Bihar and Kerala are the Partner States of the Fair, while Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh are the Focus States.

2. On the third day of Chhath Puja festival on Sunday, devotees observed the main ritual of Sandhya Arghya this evening by offering oblation to the setting Sun.

3. PM Narendra Modi pays tribute to Rani Lakshmibai on her birth anniversary. Rani Lakshmibai (or Rani Lakshmi Bai) was born on 19 Nov 1828 in the town of Banares (now Varanasi) into a Karhada Brahmin family.

PM Modi also paid tributes on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi (19 Nov 1917 – 31 Oct 1984).

4. In Maharashtra, the Health Department of Solapur district has geared up to provide adequate services in the wake of a suspected Zika patient at Pandharpur.

5. In Telangana, over 40 out of the total 119 constituencies in the State require additional Ballot Units (BUs) for polling and the election authorities are making arrangements for the same. One electronic Voting machine can handle 16 candidates including the NOTA option.

6. Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Sunday ended his sit-in protest outside Khajuraho police station in Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh against the death of a party worker during assembly polls held on November 17.

7. Normal flight services at Manipur’s Imphal International Airport were affected on Sunday afternoon over sighting of an unidentified flying object (UFO).

9. Punjab-born Irish man eyes Guinness record for double ‘Earth Walk’
Vinod Bajaj had beaten his own walking record by completing the second Earth Walk in 1,114 days, 382 fewer days than the first walk completed in September 2020.

12. The Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development, 2022, was Sunday awarded jointly to the Indian Medical Association and the Trained Nurses Association of India as representatives of the Covid warriors in the country. Former Vice President M Hamid Ansari presented the award.

1. The Delhi High Court directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to assume possession of public parks near the Jama Masjid from the Waqf Board. The Court condemned the act of locking gates and denying public access to parks.

In April, last year, the Court had impleaded the Waqf Board as a party to the case after the MCD submitted that the gates to the parks managed by the Municipal Corporation are being operated by the Waqf Board.

2. 22 fishermen, arrested by the Srilankan Navy, were released at the behest of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

3. Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi has alleged a water scam of over 3500 crore in the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) under the AAP government, with regard to irregularities in its bank accounts since 2017.

UTTARKASHI TUNNEL COLLAPSE UPDATES: Rescue efforts going on since the last 7 days, Workers Given Vitamin Supplements; Rescue teams began an operation to insert a 6-inch diameter pipe inside the tunnel late early on Sunday as the eighth day of the rescue efforts kicked in. Officials on Saturday prepared to drill a vertical hole from the top of the hill to evacuate the workers stuck inside the tunnel for the last seven days.

1. DRDO Develops Radar Absorbing Paint: The Defence Laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed a Radar Absorbing Paint that will help aircraft reduce their radar signature, allowing them to develop a greater degree of stealth against enemy radars.

5. The Indian Air Force is working on a project to develop an indigenous jammer pod for the homegrown TEJAS MK-1A fighter aircraft.

6. A retired brigadier of the Indian Army, a war veteran and a former governor of Arunachal Pradesh, B D Mishra said that speculation on Chinese incursions in Ladakh was politically motivated. He also said the Chinese know that the Indian leadership after PM Modi came to power is not going to yield even one square inch of land to China.
