Kisan mahapanchayat – Thousands of farmers to gather in Delhi; 2,000 cops deployed.
The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Sunday said lakhs of farmers from across the country are on their way to Delhi to participate in the ‘kisan mahapanchayat’ that will be held at Ramlila Maidan on March 20.

The ‘kisan mahapanchayat’ will be held to press for a legal guarantee on the minimum support price (MSP),

1. Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s COVID-19 National Task Force has issued revised clinical guidelines for the management of adult COVID-19 patients amid rise in cases.

CRIME REPORT

1. Supreme Court to hear a petition filed by Telangana Government against Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan for creating a “constitutional impasse” by refusing to act on several Bills passed by the State legislature.

2. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has urged Congress to not insult Veer Damodar Savarkar after Congress posted an image of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi with the caption “Savarkar samjha kya?” (Did you think it’s Savarkar?). “Please don’t insult the great soul Veer Savarkar. Praying with folded hands,” Rijiju tweeted. This comes after Delhi Police questioned Gandhi over his ‘sexual assault’ claim.

3. Visva-Bharati University in West Bengal has issued a notice to Nobel laureate Amartya Sen asking him to reply why an eviction order will not be issued against him for not vacating a plot he is allegedly occupying illegally.

4. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice to the Punjab state and its police officials for March 21 on a habeas corpus petition seeking to produce Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh.

The petitioner, Waris Punjab De’s legal advisor, alleged that over 24 hours have passed since Singh’s illegal detention and he has not been produced before any court.

5. Pakistan’s external spy agency ISI has been the brain behind pushing Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh back to India with the help of overseas Sikh separatists, the officials said on Saturday.Singh, 30, was a truck driver in Dubai before the ISI, with the help of Khalistan supporters based outside India.

6. Punjab Police and Rapid Action Force conducted flag march at various places on Sunday as efforts are underway to nab pro-Khalistan “Waris Punjab De” chief Amritpal Singh.”

7. The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) may soon undergo a major overhaul as some top officials may be asked to resign. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao is likely to ask the TSPSC chairman to step down owing moral responsibility for paper leakage that led to the cancellation of four recruitment exams and erupted into a major political conflict with opposition leaders organising protests to call for a high-level probe.

8. BJP leader Jitendra Tiwari has been remanded to eight days of police custody in connection with the death of three people during a stampede in West Bengal.

1. State-owned SJVN (Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam) on Saturday said its green energy subsidiary has bagged a 200MW solar project entailing an investment of Rs 1,000 crore in Maharashtra.

4. Switzerland’s biggest bank UBS will acquire the 167-year-old Credit Suisse in a rescue deal, Swiss authorities have announced. The deal is aimed at securing financial stability and protecting the Swiss economy in an exceptional situation, the Swiss National Bank (SNB) said in a statement. While the deal value was not announced, an earlier report pegged it at over $2 billion.
